Program Overview: As people around the globe communicate more widely, frequently and enthusiastically than ever before, the potential for fusion of devices and services is unlimited. Making it all possiblefrom leading-edge mobile applications to a simple wireless or landline phone callare operations/business support systems (OSS/BSS), which work behind the scenes to deliver, manage, and monetize the people, processes, and infrastructure that provide these services. For decades, operations/business support systems (OSS/BSS) have played an integral role in communications, helping to streamline operations and implement Fulfillment, Assurance and Billing processes including service quality monitoring, network management, service activation, billing and CRM. Today these systems have evolved into powerful applications for managing complex network and IT infrastructure, service delivery and customer support. These high-performance business tools help balance the constant evolution of customer needs with infrastructure and financial realities. Stratecasts OSS/BSS Global Competitive Strategies program examines business and operational strategies, monitoring and analyzing software and services for this rapidly-changing market. The program delivers analysis of fundamental OSS/BSS strategies and solutions for Fulfillment, Assurance and Billing while recognizing the urgent need for alignment of processes and systems across the business. New business models, customer demands, vendor solutions and partnership dynamics are included in the analysis and advice delivered by our consultants. Areas such as customer experience management (CEM), customer relationship management (CRM) and revenue/business assurance complement our analysis of billing; dynamic order management and service layer strategies build upon fulfillment; and service and customer assurance add depth to infrastructure management. Stratecast continues to expand the OSS/BSS practice to include increasingly relevant and industry-impacting areas of analysis such as mobile marketing/advertising/commerce, location-based services and mobile apps; business/predictive analytics and intelligence (BAI); web analytics and social media; M2M, network and customer-facing policy management; and enterprise IT network/systems management.

EMERGINGECOSYSTEMSANDNEWAREASOFANALYSIS
The Mobile Marketing/Advertising Ecosystem

Billions of mobile users worldwide have a more direct relationship with their mobile devices than with any other communications medium, and they constitute an interactive, on-the-move global pool of respondents the likes of which brands (marketers and advertisers) have never seen. Brands now have more than a dozen mobile marketing/advertising areas to choose from including text (SMS/MMS) messaging, which saw mobile users send more than six trillion messages in 2010 alone, and mobile applications, where by YE2010 users had already downloaded more than 11 billion iPhone and Android apps. Mobile advertising is growing fast, devouring an ever-larger portion of global advertising expenditures. CSPs, which hold the subscriber bases upon which mobile advertising depends, and companies that can provide key infrastructure components and services that drive the ecosystem, are positioned to grow right along with it. The Application Delivery Ecosystem

There is a disconnect between the all clear signals wireless network and website operators receive from their infrastructure and system evaluation tools versus the performance issues individual end users experience. Fortunately, a new breed of solutions is eliminating this disconnect by monitoring exactly how users are viewing and receiving wireless network services and web applications. These application performance management (APM) solutions close the loop by providing the missing outside-in user perspective. When combined with customer service assurance (CSA) solutions, they form a comprehensive customer experience management (CEM) strategy.
