PATTERN STITCHES Garter stitch (Garter st) Knit every row. K2, p2 rib (multiple of 4 sts + 2) Stockinette stitch (St st) Knit on RS, purl on WS. HAT Using circular needle and A, cast on 70 sts. Join, taking care not to twist sts. Place marker for beginning of round. *Knit 3 rounds with A. Change to B and purl 3 rounds. Repeat from * 10 times. Change to A and knit 1 round. Eyelet Round *K10, yo, k2tog; repeat from * around. Next Round Knit. Change to B and purl 3 rounds. Change to A and knit 2 rounds. Bind off. FINISHING Drawstring Cord Using double-pointed needles and B, cast on 3 sts. Work in I-cord until piece measures 30. Bind off. Thread Drawstring Cord through holes on Eyelet Round of Hat. Pull to close up and tie ends into a bow. Weave in ends. GAUNTLET Garter Stitch Edging Using straight needles and A, cast on 32 sts. Work garter st until piece measures 1, end with a RS row. Shape Thumbhole Next Row (WS) K4, purl to last 4 sts, k4. Next Row K4, ssk, knit to last 6 sts, k2tog, k4. Repeat last 2 rows twice more 26 sts. Keeping first and last 4 sts in garter stitch and center sts in St st, work 5 rows. Shape Wrist
