1here are two 1erusalem's in scripture, the earthly and the heavenly; and there are two lands,
the earthly and the heavenly. Abraham looked for a heavenly city and land, not an earthly city
and land.

ebrews 11:8-16
8.By Iaith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should aIter receive Ior
an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
9. By Iaith he sojourned in the land oI promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles
with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him oI the same promise:
10. For he looked Ior a city which hath Ioundations, whose builder and maker is God.
11. Through Iaith also Sara herselI received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered oI a
child when she was past age, because she judged him IaithIul who had promised.
12. ThereIore sprang there even oI one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars oI the sky
in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
13.These all died in Iaith, not having received the promises, but having seen them aIar oII, and
were persuaded oI them, and embraced them, and conIessed that they were strangers and
pilgrims on the earth.
14. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
15. And truly, iI they had been mindIul oI that country Irom whence they came out, they might
have had opportunity to have returned.
16But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: whereIore God is not ashamed to be
called their God: Ior he hath prepared Ior them a city.
Abraham was not looking Ior an earthly city, but a heavenly. He died in Iaith, believing in a city
that was coming.
Abraham could not receive the promise while alive, because the Promised Land was heavenly.
.ts 7:3-5
3, And said unto him, Get thee out oI thy country, and Irom thy kindred, and come into the land
which I shall shew thee.
4. Then came he out oI the land oI the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and Irom thence, when
his Iather was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.
5. And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his Ioot on: yet he promised
that he would give it to him Ior a possession, and to his seed aIter him, when as yet he had no
child.

Abraham never received an earthly land. His descendants came into an earthly land, but it
was not the ultimate inheritance.
1he land promise was fulfilled during the days of 1oshua.
oshua 21:43
43.And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their Iathers; and
they possessed it, and dwelt therein.
1he earthly was only a type of the heavenly. As a matter of fact the promise was greater than
the land of Palestine, and included the entire world, the nations.
#omans 4:13
13.For the promise, that he should be the heir oI the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed,
through the law, but through the righteousness oI Iaith.

1his is fulfilled in Christ, the son of Abraham, the seed to whom the promise was made. Christ
possesses the nations.
