Christian youths stand acquitted on murder charges.

Sargodha, Pakistan (ROD)>> Christian teenagers Shahbaz Javed and Hasar Mawat are
released from the District Jail Sargodha after 8 months confinement for the crimes they
had not committed. Both the youths were falsely implicated in to two murder cases by a
Muslim petitioner Allah Yar and Satellite town Police, despite the fact that both of them
are innocent. Both the teenagers were acquitted in one case and granted release on bail in
the second case.

In Dec 2006, Allah Yar the Muslim complainant lodged an FIR # 888/2006 (First
investigation report) at Satellite Town Police Station Sargodha and accused Shahbaz
Javed & Hasar Mawat of murdering his son Muhammad Luqman along with two other
accomplices.

Later on Dec 21st, 2006 Satellite Town Police registered a second murder case against
school going Christian teens, in which they were charged of poisoning a Muslim man
Imtiaz Hussain, under FIR # 955/2006.

During the prosecution police and the plaintiff totally failed to prove that Shahbaz Javed
or Hasar Mawat has killed Allah Yar’s son Muhammad Luqman as stated in the FIR #
888/2006. Therefore session’s court declared them clean-handed and acquitted them of all
the charges. Ordering the release of both the Christian inmates Additional Session Judge
Sargodha said “I, Additional Session Judge Sargodha Chaudhary Azhar, order the release
of Hasar Mawat & Shahbaz Javed due to the unavailability of evidence” on July 31st,
2007.

Hasar Mawat’s father Ayub Gill told Rays of Development (ROD) Fact finding team that
the report of the chief chemical examiner Punjab has revealed that Imtiaz Hussain had not
been poisoned to death. Gill added that chemical examiners report also disclosed ‘heart
attack’ as the cause of death of Imtiaz Hussain.

Ayub Gill & Javed Masih fathers of both the Christian youths said court granted release
to their sons on bail in the second case registered under FIR # 955/2006 on August 24th,
2007.

Christian inmates were unprisoned from the district jail Sargodha on August 28th, 2007.
Rays of Development Organization, Fact finding team including Ferhan Mazher (Chief),
Nadeem Samuel, Jawad Mazhar, Imran Mazher, Adil Naseem, Adnan Saeed, Zimran
Elias and Imran Munir received and welcomed Hasar Mawat & Shahbaz Javed on Prison
gate very warmly.

Welcoming the release of Christian youths Chairman of Rays of Development

Organization (ROD) Mr. Ferhan Mazher condemned such fake cases registered against
the members of minorities of Pakistan. Chairman ROD went on saying that no one can
repay the damages occurred to the psychology and educational career of these Christian
youths.

Concerned Mazher also added that Police should investigate deeply to uncover the truths
before lodging a case. He added that cases should be registered on the basis of truth, facts
and evidence.
