n class on Tuesday, Nov. 1, each student will make a unique interactive clock to bring home. Students will be instructed to practice telling time with their handmade clock for 20 minutes every day after school for the month of November. We encourage you to call out times and see if your child can make the clock match. Also, you can set the clock and have your child tell you the time. Students should practice the different terms related to telling time (i.e. a.m., p.m., noon and midnight) as much as possible. Remember Practice makes perfect!!!

This month, we will be reading a number of fun books about clocks and telling time. Some of our selections are listed below. Telling Time: How to Tell Time on Digital and Analog Clocks! by Jules Older The Clock Struck One by Trudy Harris Clocks and More Clocks by Pat Hutchins Tick-Tock Sharks by Elizabeth Mills Midnight Fright by Kathryn Heling & Deborah Hembrook

n Monday, Nov. 14, each student will begin keeping a journal that records what he or she did at six different times per day. The student should record the time, explain the activity and draw a picture of the activity. This journal will be due on Monday, Nov. 21. Please encourage your child to use his or her interactive clock to show each time that is recorded in the journal.

It is important for your child to know key vocabulary in order to tell time. Help by using these words and terms around the house as much as possible! a.m. p.m. Noon Quarter past Digital Quarter till Half past Noon Midnight Analog
