FROM THE SECRETARY

Welcome to the first edition of the Saber and Scroll News. The officers are glad that you have joined us and look forward to the next year together. We have many great things coming up and are growing by leaps and bounds. In the next month if something good happens to you, your kids do something great, or you have a tip, great resource of something that will help another member along send me an email to sec.historyclubapus@gmail.com. Dont just post YOUR news on the Facebook page. I can not always find it when compiling the newsletter at the end of the month. All the best, Kay

AND NOW A WORD OR TWO FROM OUR PRESIDENT

We now have a LinkedIn page that is slowly developing. The goal of having this additional page is to allow those that prefer to use an application other than Facebook for interaction a place to discuss history and other things in accordance with our club purpose. The link for it is: http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=4122817. I'm pleased to see our membership growing. We have lots of plans for the next year and hopefully will see some come to fruition. Candace McGovern, our Editor-in-Chief, is busily working to make our journal become a reality. Watch for information from her over the next few weeks. Our next business meeting will be scheduled for December, date to be announced. We have some members helping locate presenters so that we can have a presentation along with our business meeting. As a reminder, meetings are once per quarter (minimum) and members are required to attend at least one meeting per year. New helpers for the club include Leigh-Anne Yacovelli who is working to find service opportunities for our members that will be available to most members in their own communities. Please contact her for more information. Our other newest helper is Michele Jacobsen. She is helping locate people willing to provide programs for our club meetings to make them more educational and entertaining for us. Thanks to Leigh-Anne and Michele for stepping forward! Please contact them if you have ideas or are willing to give a little time to make their roles easier. If you have any ideas, gripes, kudos, or just chatter, please feel free to contact me at historyclubapus@gmail.com or at my personal email sara.edens55@gmail.com. I'm open to suggestions and will try to implement whatever is possible to add. Seeing this club grow and become a viable partnership between members for conversation and historical discussion is what our goal is, especially in this first year of growth. Thanks so much, Sara Edens President The Saber and Scroll, the APUS Historical Society
