CORRUPTION: THE GREAT WAY TO PERISH THE CIVILIZATION Jaka Utama 040307034Y Written as a reaction paper of general lecture

Time through history has showed us various kinds of way that humans do to get them, both of the right way and the wrong ways. And by time, many people and leader has done the corruption as one of their way to get rich and wealth. And with the corruption also, many great civilization ended of in a chaos. That is a cause-effect things happened with great revolution of the new era and civilization. But however, many people and leader cant stand being true and honest without corruption. And furthermore, corruption is done again and again, every time, and everywhere. And its also horribly happened in Indonesia. History has written that 3.5 century Indonesia has been colonized by Dutch Nation. And during that colonization, the feudalism culture has influenced and been adopted by Indonesian people as well. The effect, the corruption has been a cultural things that most of the people allow, and even do it. The fail of Suhartos Government in 1998 is the peak of those terrible effects of the corruption which is done by the whole parties in the Government. Although the reformation term is being well known as the great change of this country, and many government cabinets were arranged and re-arranged for the reformation, it still shows just a little progress for about 8 years developing. Many court sessions and jurisdictions have been so dishonest and deceitful those stand and win for corrupting peoples. A Justice practitioner said that 95% of judge in Indonesia have done the corruption for bribe acceptance 1. From the performance of Law functionary, about 54% law prosecutors has bad performance of honest related to bribes, 68.6% for Police, 61.2% for lawyers in Indonesia. 2 For whole of those situations, Indonesia is getting slipped into more crises which are economic crisis, social crisis, and also tends to disintegration of the nation. The intent of GAM to disintegrate from Indonesia, and also Papua in recent years is a cause of dishonest, and corruption done by the central governor and the representatives to their earning from the exploitation of natural resources in their province. The cause of why people and government still doing the corruption is like a continuous circle that never be able to find where is the start point. But the great factor that still contributes to corruption crisis is the people itself. Whatever the way

promoted to eliminate the corruption, will never be succeeded without the great intentions and means of all Indonesian people. Its true that very hard to socialize the corruption which is allowed and considered as the common thing by our society because of the culture. And thats why we have to start it by now. Started by our self, by little things, and by now.3 We have to generate the new generation which is corruption-free, truthful, and honest. Because Indonesia can never be a great country if there is still corruption in the mindset of the people. Even more, if the corruption is still leading the way of Indonesia governance, not take a long time, Indonesia will be the history, soon.
