This Sunday evening we are inviting all ordained men of our congregation to join with us in the Deacon Ordination

service. All of thos nominated for the position of Deacon were approved by the church and two of those will need to be ordained, Dwayne Kelly and Josh Williamson. A Deacon Ordination service is not a formality but an essential part of the life of the church. It is the opportunity for the congregation to affirm their support of these men in service to our Lord. It is the opportunity for these men to publicly acknowledge the call of God upon them to serve as Deacons. A Deacon Ordination service is for everyone to attend. Young and old need to come together to affirm not only the men ordained, but the work of the Lord in this place. Out work is not for man and should not be of men, it is of and for the Lord. I hope we will use this time to refocus on what we are about as a church. We are here to win the lost and then to make disciples of them. This involves teaching, training, and encouraging. That is what we should be about as a church. There will be a Parent Child Dedication on Sunday August 28 in the morning services. If you have a child to be dedicated, please contact the Church Office for details. I look forward to seeing you this Sunday Morning and Evening in worship. Paul Memory Verse August 141 John 5:12 NIV He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

GRADED CHOIRS HAVE BEGUN

With school back in session, our graded choirs began at 5:45 last Wednesday. Bring your child to the following locations: Tiny Tones (3 year olds) Preschool 3 yr. room Melody Makers (4 & 5s) Preschool 5 yr. room Music Makers (1-3rd grade) Education Bldg. E210 Young Musicians (4-5th grade) Choir Room It is really great to return to the Shell Annex as we begin our new year in our Graded Choir Ministry. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend their childs choir activities. We are always grateful when a parent assists their childs choir leaders with taking attendance, passing out booms and being an encourager. Speak to your childs leaders and ask how you can help.

Awana Ministry News The Awana Ministry will resume on Sunday evening in the Educational Building at 5:30 p.m. Parent are encouraged to bring their children to Awanas and then go to our evening worship services. There is a place for all to learn and grow in their knowledge and understanding of Christ Jesus here at FBC. A healthy Sunday school is focused on engaging the congregation in fulfilling the Great Commission. Jesus spoke with the apostles and told them: All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:1820 NKJV) A healthy Sunday school ministry focuses on the lost being reached, lives being changed, and leaders being sent. When a congregation intentionally focuses on these aims the result is health and growth. If any of these are neglected the result is struggle and eventual decline. People do move and people do eventually die, therefore, failure to reach the lost will result in decline and death of a Sunday school. The lost will not be reached if the focus is not on lives being changed. Lives are changed as Gods people study and live out His word. Living it out will lead to sending and releasing leaders to serve wherever needed to accomplish Kingdom tasks. What is the purpose of your Sunday school? Have you lost focus? The time has come to re-establish and re-focus on the correct purpose. You will not see a change until you adjust the way you view the purpose of the Sunday school.
