What will it mean for your school? We would like to add murals depicting different genres of literature in the school Media Center. Mural 1: Tree Map of genres (physical representation showing the division and categorization of genres.) Mural 2: Mystery Mural 3: Science fiction Mural 4: Fables/Folk tales Mural 5: Historical Fiction Mural 6: Fantasy What is it about your group and your project that makes it especially deserving of a Lowe's ToolBox for Education grant? Why is there such a need? The state educational learning standards require students to identify and read in a variety of genres. Many students have a difficult time recognizing the types of books they would enjoy. These murals will helps students achieve these learning standards simply by exposure, rather than requiring valuable classroom time. What is your volunteer plan for this project? Which volunteers and how many volunteers will you need to execute this project? How do you plan on enlisting that help? PTO and Media Center will recruit volunteers with artistic talent. during the summer of 2012, volunteers will meet at the school on scheduled days to complete the painting of the murals.
