• What did David repent of?
David’s saving grace is that he is repentant and accepts full
responsibility for his action. God did not take away the privilege He
bestowed on David but made clear that he has to bear the consequence
of his sin.

II. THE SIN OF DAVID

David is now the king over Israel. He had been successful in everything
he had done. As king, he has kingdom responsibilities and his leadership
needs to be shown by example. The moment he forgotten about this
and let his guards down, he fell victim to temptation.

What was David doing in his palace? Where should he be? (2 Sam 11:1)

him and his children. It shared his

Nathan replied, "The LORD has
taken away your sin. You are not
going to die. 14 But because by
doing this you have made the

V. THE FOUR FOLD JUDGMENT

When David reacted with anger at Nathan’s story, little did he realised
that he was passing his own penalty, as he seen fair. How was the ‘four
times over’ fulfilled?

VI. DAVID REPENTED.

Upon realising what he had done, David immediately repented and
acknowledged that he has sinned against God (2 Sam 12:13).

The full extent of his repentance is captured in Psalm 51. Read this
Psalm.

Who did David said he had sinned against?

taken away your sin. You are not
going to die. But because by doing
this you have made the enemies
of the LORD show utter contempt,
the son born to you will die."
What did he asked God to do for him? (Take turns to answer this
question).

VII. CONCLUSION: As further lesson, see 2 Sam
