Resources
Catch a Grant from Peyton Manning Superstar quarterback Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts has a charitable foundation that supports youth programs. The PeyBack Foundation provides grants to youth organizations that develop life skills and social skills while providing physical activity and opportunities for community involvement. Grant range: $1,500 - $10,000. Deadline: February 1, 2012. More info: http://www.peytonmanning.com Teen Drug Data Offers Warning Signs for FutureDespite some positive signs, the latest Monitoring the Future survey of teen behavior and attitudes indicates troubling trends and perceptions regarding youth drug use. The report indicates erosions in young peoples perceptions of the harms associated with smoking marijuana, using Ecstasy, drinking alcohol and using smokeless tobacco. New data shows the improper use of legal substances, like prescription drugs and inhalants, has become a significant problem. For more information: www.monitoringthefuture.org. Resources to Help Parents Combat Teen Drug UseResearch shows that teens who have a close relationship with their parents are less likely to use drugs and alcohol and engage in other risky behaviors. ONDCPs National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign has a number of resources available free of charge to help educate parents in your community. Although overall teen drug use has declined in recent years, it is imperative we continue to work together to educate youth and their parents. Too many young people are still using illicit drugs and abusing prescription and over-thecounter-drugs. Order from the many FREE resources available including: anti-drug posters, postcards for teens and materials for parents. More info: www.TheAntiDrug.com/Resources.
