DESCRIPTION
The ST121 is a protection device designed to fit to kilns, furnaces, ovens & similar heating processes to help guard against over-firing. It trips off if the process temperature exceeds the preset trip temperature. The trip output is used to remove heating power. When tripped the ST121 sounds a warning buzzer and the red/green TRIP lamp shows red. To reset the ST121 the mains power supply has to be cycled on/off. The ST121 also provides a temperature operated safety lock output. This can be used to operate a motorised or solenoid door lock to prevent the inadvertent opening of a firing chamber door when the internal temperature is too high. The red/ green LOCK lamp shows red when locked. The buzzer is not associated with the LOCK function. An ambient temperature monitoring and trip function is also provided. This helps guard against over-heating due to lack of sufficient ventilation by removing heating power. The warning buzzer is coded so that the reason for a trip condition can be quickly identified:Reason for trip Temp Trip Checksum Trip Ambient trip Open-circuit trip Buzzer sequence (repeated) (repeated) (repeated) (repeated) Notes Process over-temperature trip Internal memory error Ambient temperature too high Thermocouple open circuit
