TIME TO STUFF THOSE SHOEBOXES!

Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child sends shoeboxes stuffed with items to needy children all over the world. If you would like to put a smile on a childs face who probably will not have a Christmas, just follow these simple steps: Pick up one of the brochures in the narthex area at church and it will give you instructions on how to stuff the box with the gift ideas provided. Wrap the box if you would like, label the box for boy or girl and include a $7.00 donation to cover shipping. The Human Race

This year the Human Race is on November 22. This is the annual walk through the spectacular light display at Newport News Park on the Tuesday before it opens for the public and the only time you can walk it. If you have never walked the light display, you should consider doing it; you will never want to drive it again! Buses take you from Woodside High to the entrance of the display. From there, you walk at your own pace to the pick-up point (1.5 miles) and ride through the remainder of the light display back to Woodside High. The details for this years event are being re-vamped. As soon as we receive more information, we will pass it along to you. For now, mark the date on your calendar and plan to join us. Everyone is welcome! Please contact Lisa Canaday at 874-2394 or lcanaday2@verizon.net for more information.

PreDenbigh Presbyterian Pre-Kindergarten

November is here, and that brings a special time of thankfulness here at DPPK. The students have already been practicing sharing with others. Our families donated 94 food items to the Food Closet during the month of October. They have also been sending in items to fill shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. I am sure that we will continue to see our PreKindergarten families bless the ministries of Denbigh Presbyterian Church. Our teachers have plenty of fun fall and Thanksgiving themed events planned. We will be celebrating Yellow Day and Brown Day. Our three year olds will go on a Turkey Hunt, and the four year olds will have a special Turkey Feast. We will also recognize our military families during a special prayer at chapel on November 15 and 16 in honor of Veterans Day. In addition to all of those fun activities, the students will Say Cheese! for their school portraits. I hope that you will stop by our bulletin board to see some student art work or pick up a copy of our newsletter to see what other events are happening.

50th Anniversary Celebrations Looking Back While Moving Forward in Faith Thank you to everyone who worked to make our 50th Anniversary celebrations a great success. Many in our community and church visited our Fall Festival and enjoyed the music, food and activities. The afternoon worship service on the lawn allowed us to give thanks to God for God's blessings upon our church. All who gathered for the Saturday evening dinner had joyous fellowship, excellent food and a meaningful program of reminiscing and looking to the future of DPC. As we worshipped together on Sunday morning and broke bread together at the Sunday afternoon luncheon there was a spirit of joy and anticipation for our church's next 50 years. Members and friends, past and present, enjoyed the photo and memorabilia displays so lovingly assembled for our viewing. Thank you again to everyone who made each of these events meaningful as our church was Looking Back While Moving Forward in Faith.
