Turnover dips
The market turnover was the lowest for the year. Trade Finance and Investments started trading today at Rs 23.00. However, the share price closed at the offer price of Rs 20.00. The MPI remained stable despite the drop in ASPI. Bank, Finance and Insurance sector was the main contributor to the market turnover (due to Trade Finance and Investments) and the sector index increased 0.17%. Sampath Bank was also a heavy contributor to the sector performance. The share price of SAMP fell Rs 1.40 (0.68%) to close at Rs 203.00. Diversified sector also contributed significantly to the market turnover (due to John Keells Holdings) and the sector index decreased by 0.55%. The share price of JKH increase Rs 0.50 (0.26%) to close at Rs 190.50. The foreign holding of JKH increased by 273,441 shares. HVA foods was also among the top contributors to the turnover. HVA Foods share price dipped by Rs 0.7 (1.66%) to close at Rs 41.00. C W Mackie announced an interim dividend of Rs.1.00per share.

SMB Leasing (SEMB) Money Market Activities, Property Development Activetes, Marketing of software Solutions. Mr. M. S. I. Peiris- He joined the company in 1994. He has extensive experience in the field of credit especially in leasing, counting over 24 years in the industry. Company saw its gross income coming down by 19% for the quarter ended 30 June 2011. Due to the significant increase recorded in operating expenses, companys net profits declined by over 200%. Company's main future strategy would be to concentrate on development finance leasing. Initially the company will convert itself to a finance company and enter the development finance oriented leasing field. In order to achieve this, company's ultimate goal would be to evolve into a development banking institution and then setting the foundation for this by opening branches in relevant areas.
