WORK EXPERIENCE: Senior Safety Engineer SABIC-SHARQ 2009 till date


SHARQ is a 50:50 joint venture between SABIC and a Japanese consortium, led by Japan's government and the Mitsubishi group of companies. SHARQ has a total capacity of1.5 MTPA of Polyethylene and 2.2 MTPA of Ethylene Glycol to SABIC total output of petrochemicals and at the same time SHARQ is the world's single largest Ethylene Glycol production sites in the world. The J&K Power Utility Department is responsible for power generation, maintenance and transmission. Approximately 1000 MW of power is distributed on the grid. Most of the power is Hydel generation and the balance is made from fuel driven turbines. My role included: Energy Auditing of Sub-Stations, Receiving Stations and Transmission systems. Senior Safety Officer - Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited-HPCL(1998 - 2006 ) :


HPCL an Oil & Gas E&P company is a Fortune 500 company, with an annual turnover of approx US $ 20 billion. It operates 2 major refineries producing a wide variety of petroleum fuels & specialty products. The LPG portfolio is one of its strategic business units entailing its extraction and its commercial distribution, I have been involved at HPCL LPG facilities primarily in a Safety role with a sound Maintenance and Project support experience as well. My role included: Carry out quarterly Internal Safety Audit of LPG Plant. Ensure validity of all statutory Licenses Supervise the testing of SRVs of all Pressure Vessels, TRVs of LPG Lines annually Carry out LPG pipeline, Tank Truck Decantation hose and Fire hydrant hose testing Ensure the working of Gas Monitoring System of the Plant and maintain records Issue hot and cold work permits to the Maintenance Department and all external contractors for carrying out Cold and Hot jobs inside the Plant Oversee earth resistance testing of all earth pits and treatment was given to earth pits with high values of resistance. Ensured that earth pits were conforming to IS:3043 and necessary action was taken in case any deviation was observed

Oversee IR Testing of all electrical motors and cables annually Ensure execution of OISD Projects at the Plant in co-ordination with Zonal Engineering. Answer technical audit queries and take corrective action to rectify problems. Develop emergency handling plans. Ensure that safe operating practices are being followed for carrying out routine day to day work in the Plant. Oversee all SQC checks on bulk during its receipt. Participate and coordinate safety review and monitoring in facility shutdowns Ensuring the timely reporting of all incidents, investigating and analyzing the all reported cases to arrive at proper safety solution to avoid the recurrence. Active support to HAZOP team while carrying out risk analysis and survey. Extending key role in formulating and designing of safety manual, contractor safety manual, various work related safety cards, safety pamphlets etc. Analysis of accidents/incidents, damages, etc. to learn from what went wrong and also to avoid recurrence Assist consultants in carrying out HAZOP Studies, Risk Analysis, Preparation of Disaster Management Program (On-site and Off Site Emergency preparedness response) Supervise the hydro testing of all pressure vessels including LPG Bullets and carried out hydro testing of LPG pipelines. Carry out Daily Safety Audit of the LPG Plant and ensure necessary action is taken on gaps. Ensure working of all the Fire Fighting equipments at all times. This includes Fire Hydrant Network , Fire Engines, Sprinkler System Conduct fire drills and Safety Committee Meetings related to Plant Safety

MAINTENANCE SUPPORT at HPCL has included:


Supervised the maintenance of all plant equipments like Carousal, Check weigh Scale, Electronic Leak Detector, Cathodic Protection System, Air Compressors, LPG Compressors ,LPG Pumps, DG Sets, Fire Engines, Chain conveyors, Gas Monitoring System and all other plant equipment. Develop the maintenance schedule for Plant Equipments as per OISD (Oil India Safety Directorate 144) and carryout periodic and preventive maintenance for all the equipments for achieving Nil Breakdown. Maintain optimum Level of Inventory for critical spares and Nil Idle inventory. Exercise strict controls over maintenance expenses and ensure the expenses are within the budget. Procure spares by processing necessary purchase documents like Local Purchase Requisition, Purchase Orders and Material receipt Reports. Prepare for meetings and correspond with the member representatives of all the vendors and suppliers. Prepare Annual Maintenance Contracts for all critical equipment and coordinate the visits of vendors as per schedule ,ensure proper maintenance and take action as per the recommendations. Preparation of Tender Documents, Commercial Terms and Technical Specifications, Receipt of Tenders and finalization of contracts for supply of materials and services. All the purchase related activities were done in computerized form i.e. using the JD Edwards software and following standard industry practices. Vendor analysis was carried out on half yearly basis and vendor enlisting was done based on strict criteria for performance, quality of service and materials.

PROJECT EXPERIENCE at HPCL has included:


The augmentation project of LPG Plant was handled. The job included replacement of Stationary Scales with Electronic Carousal, Extension of Cylinder Loading /unloading platform, Installation & Commissioning of new LPG Pumps, LPG Compressors, Air Compressors, Gas monitoring system and laying additional LPG Lines, cabling of all the equipments. LPG Tank Truck Unloading Bay was installed & commissioned, which included vetting of drawings, supervising the activity, ensuring and maintaining of all quality related records. Installation and commissioning of cylinder hydro testing unit. Preparation of budget for the projects and maintaining the status of expenditure and cost control. Preparation of monthly MIS for Projects, operations and maintenance activities and issuing instructions to keep the expenditure well within the budgeted amount.
