Severalresearchandevidencebasedfindingsstatedinthestudysrecommendationsforconsolidation ofthethreeBerkeleyTWIprogramsintoaTWIschoolinclude: 1. AwellimplementedTWIprogramwilladdresstheneedsofourSpanishspeakingEnglish Learners,asignificantBerkeleysubgroupthathasincreasedinrecentyearsandisaffectedby theachievementgap. 2. ATWIprogramconsolidatedatoneschoolwillensure: a. FidelitywithoneeffectiveTWIprogrammodel, b. Direct,targetedinterventionsdesignedaroundtheneedsofTWIstudents, c. AstrongprofessionallearningcommunityinwhichallTWIteachersworktogetherto buildacohesiveprogram,and d. Bilingualresources. 3. Thepositiveeffectsofimmersioninabiliterateandbiculturalsettingcreatedinourcurrent TWIclassroomscanbefullyrealizedinallotheraspectsofschoollife.
