0 Introduction
Background

Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BHB) is a public limited company, incorporated on 22nd March 1996 under the Malaysian Companies Act 1965 and listed on the Main Market of the Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad on 16th April 2001. Its mission is providing quality port services that meet customer expectations, ensure a competitive return on investment for the shareholders and benefit the stakeholders. Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BHB) also know as Malaysia-based investment holding company. Its wholly owned subsidiaries include Bintulu Port Sdn. Bhd. (BPSB), and Biport Bulkers Sdn. Bhd (BBSB). Bintulu Port Sdn. Bhd. (BPSB) was incorporated in 23rd December 1992 and its principle activities is to provision of the port services at Bintulu Port at Sarawak. While Biport Bulkers Sdn. Bhd (BBSB) was incorporated in 20th November 2003 and it principle activities is the business such as oils products, bulking installation facilities and other business. This Group, along with its subsidiaries, is engaged in the core business at Bintulu Port, Sarawak, that covering an area of 320 hectares, Bintulu Port is an all-weather deep-water port in Sarawak, strategically located within the BIMP-EAGA region and near the main sea lane between the Far East and Europe and then this area also is a Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy or simply known as SCORE, is one of the five regional development corridors being developed throughout the country.

Core Business Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BHB) operates in two business segments: provision of port services, and provision of bulking installation facilities for palm oil, edible oils, vegetable oils, fats and its by-products. 1) Provision of port services

In this business segment, the Bintulu Port Holdings provide marine services such as pilotage services, towage services and the mooring services. In addition, Bintulu Port is also a multi-purpose port which serves LPG, crude oil, petroleum, palm oil products, general and container trades. In 2010, the Cargo throughput of Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BHB) Group had rise of 5.7%, increased from 38.44 Million Tonnes to 40.63 Million Tonnes, that container handled also had increase from 248,390 TEUs (year 2009) to 251,296 TEUs (year 2010). Bintulu Port now operates two dedicated container terminals, which are frequented by main and regional shipping lines like Evergreen, Hubline and Harbour Link, which call on a weekly or twice weekly basis. 2) Provision of bulking installation facilities for palm oil, edible oils, vegetable oils, fats and its by-products

In this business segment, the Bintulu Port Holdings provide manage and operate a vegetable oil bulking terminal to cater for the ever growing palm oil industries in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. Furthermore, now this is only Bintulu Port Holdings specializing in the storage and the main export outlets for vegetable oils in Sarawak. Built on a 15 acres site, its bulking terminal is equipped with modern and state of the art facilities. Its storage facilities consisted of multi-sized tanks of various capacities to cater for different needs and requirements of individual companies. Each tank farm is segregated from one another and designed with a dedicated pipeline system to ensure optimum security and efficiency during handling of the oils.

Future Plan

Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BHB)s vision are become a world class LNG Port and the Port of BIMP-EAGA. Therefore, the future plans of BHB are throughput from LNG sector and Non LNG sector of port services has contributed 57.6% and 42.4% respectively. Revenue generated from LNG sector was 78% whilst Non LNG sector has contributed 22% of the total operating revenue of the Company. However, the Group will reduce the dependency on LNG from current level to 60% in the next couple of years. For this purpose the Group will continue to attract traffic, enhance capacities and capabilities, improve cost and fund management and develop new businesses. At the same time the Group will also repositioning itself to serve the Sarawak Corridor of Regional Development (SCORE) in terms of provision of port services and facilities including terminal operation and management. Specific focus will be given to development of container sector, bulk cargo and palm oil as well as oil and gas sector. Several related projects have been identified for future development such as Oil and Gas Terminal, Development of 1000 Metre General Cargo Wharf, Storage Yards and Sheds and Redevelopment of General Cargo Wharf for Container Operation. The Group has also submitted proposal to the Government for the extension of the existing concession period, revision of Non LNG Tariff and reduction of lease rentals in order to rationalise the future development undertaken by the Company as well as to mitigate the proposed Reduction of LNG Tariff.
