Scott Zavelo (45+ KC Knights)

Its all good. Its baseball. Just what keeps bringing guys back year after year, like Scott Zavelo in his 22nd year (20 as a manager)? Cant be winning all those championships . they are still seeking their first one. For sure there have been great times, fond memories. And there have been disappointments, maybe even a few embarrassing moments. One of the original members of the Kansas City MSBL, Scott is the father of two and grandfather of two more, and his wife (Kimberly) of 28 years knows that his days and nights on MSBL ball fields keep him young at heart while competing in a kids game. When he first began making the fall trip to Arizona, the kids couldnt wait to get out of school and enjoy sunshine and swimming pools. Over the years, college, marriages and grandchildren have changed The So Cal Scrappers scored 6 runs in the first inning and never looked back as they defeated that a bit, but the whole family still wants to the Long Island Cardinals 11-1 to win the 18+ MABL Central Championship title yesterday. know how each game came out and keep up 25 Wood Bat American, HohoKam Park, Westside Bandits 11, Las Vegas Dirtbags 6 -with dads passion for (continued on page 2) Hugo Hernandez had three hits, including a homer, and three RBI. Scott Zavelo (45+ KC Knights) (continued from page 1)

baseball. This was most evident when Scott shared the diamond with his son in the Father & Son Division two years ago. Hearing his teammates yelling and screaming in praise of his son after making a game saving spectacular play in the outfield will last forever in his memory. And Scott was in the dugout as a teammatenot in the stands as a fan. Not all memories are so pleasant, such as a few years ago when a group of players ventured onto the ASU campus to see the Halloween festivities first hand. They had a great time until they came back to their car and found they had been scammed and their car was being towed. At 1:45am and with enough late night libation among the crew, their behavior was less than desirable. The police were not amused, but it was, after all.Halloween. After a real life confrontation with the local SWAT team, they were allowed to return to their hotel, and showed up early the next day to fork out cash and get their car (and baseball gear) just in time for their morning game. Somehow they won the 9am game, arriving at the park to hear the theme song from COPS Bad Boys, Bad Boys. When you put all the years events together and consider the desire to win a championship, play on the same team with the son you coached as a kid, family trips to the desert, misadventures with your teammates, and continuing to compete against guys your age in a kids game..youve got to admit, its baseball. Its all good.
