Access contol list(ACL):-

Manager Access:-delete database, encrypt, modify, and performance task by lower access levels acl changes.
Desinger :- create full text index search., Modify [fields, forms, views, public agents].
Editor:-create, edit, read documents (editor can change other person documents also) (own docments and other
persons documents).
Author:-create edit, read (own document ).
Reader :-read documents, but can not create or edit document.
Depositor:-create documents.
No access:- none.
Hierarchical name:-
AMY JAMES/SALES/HO/SNT.
AMY JAMES: -common name- 'CN'.
Sales and HO : -are 'OU'
SNT : - organization 'O'
User type in the ACL :-1. Unspecified.
2. Person
3. Server
4. Mixed group.
5. person group
6. Server group.
>>MTC – Mail tracker collector task read special mail tracker log files produce by router.
>>MTSTORE.nsf—Mail tracker store database.
>> Reports.nsf—Reports database to generate and store mail usage reports.
>>Program documents—to run task at scheduled intervals.

How replication work:-

Replication issues an nsfsearch request against the source replica NSFsearch returns several pieces of
information including a list of OIDs of all the documents that have been created or modified since the last
replication.
OID :- is a combination of three components.
1. UNID:-unique 16 byte identifier that never changes.
2. Sequence No:- indicates how many times the document has been modified.
3. Time Stamps:- indicates the last time the document was modified.
Server types:-
1.Domino utility server –provide application services only.
2. Domino messaging server—that provide messaging servies.
3. Domino enterprise server – Provides both messaging and application services.
*Port:-refer to networking software that allows servers to communicate with other servers that share a
common protocol.
• lotus recommends that passwords of the certifier ids be at least of nine characters.
Central Directory architecture :- Provide following key features –
>Provides secondary services quick access to new information because the servers are not requires to
wit for information to replicate to them.
>enable secondary servers to run on less powerfull machines.
>provides tighter administrative control over directory management.
Connection document ;- is a document that contains all the settings necessary to schecdule replicaion
between both servers. Also be used for mail routing.
Ispy:-to test a mail routing.
Cluster.ncf is being created on local workstaion in the cluster environment.
To compact mail.box –tell router compact.
Public key –used for encryption.
Private key --- for decryption.
By default mail file have 13 MB space.
By default users have depositor access on MAIL.BOX
If mail.box corrupt then rename old mail.box and create a new one and restart your
system.
Replication between two servers require connection document on either server where
as mail routing requires connection document on both servers.
To run an agent (out of office) minimum rights for user is Editor in R6, with author
access on admin4.nsf. (Because user default rights on admin4.nsf is autor access).
In R5 minimum rights to run the out of office is designer, as well as acl rights to create
lotus script/java agents on server.
Pubnames.ntf—names.nsf ------server.
Pernames.nsf----names.nsf-----local.
Replica id:-a unique no that is generated when a dtabase is first created. When you
make a replica of the databases the replica inherits he replica id.
Author access atleast for replication.
Jobschduled.njf :- contains information of replication settings/connection.
Manger access :- for acl changes
Designer Access :- For design changes.
Editor Access :- For document changes.
Keyboard shortcuts:- CTRL+SHIFT+F9—To rebuild or update all the views if you are
unable to run the updall task. You must wait until the process is complete, so use updall
instead if the possible.

XACL ;- can restrict or refine a user's access to the database, but it can not be user to increase access the
database ACL allows.
Streaming replication :- It allows the replicator task to send multiple changes in one
request and to replicate smaller document first. It used when replication type is
PULL-PULL or PULL only.
NRPC :-notes remote procedure call-notes routing- To transfer mails between notes servers.
Passthru server : -An intermediary server that helps a client /workstation to connect with group of servers.
PULL-PULL : -replication is bi-directional, where by source server initiates replication and Pulls
documents from the target server, the source server then signals the target server's replica task to pulls
documents in the opposite direction. Both servers are involved in the replication.
Roaming user :- for roaming user three files require
1.names.nsf
2. bookmark.nsf
3. journal.nsf
Benefits of replication – 1. Security (NRPC)
2. Reduced communication cost.
3. Improved performance.
4. Can replicate subset of data.
5. Replication on the basis of ACL.

Domino maintenance:- on five files weekly.

Admin4.nsf, Names.nsf, certlog.nsf, catalog.nsf, log.nsf

Notes ID:-domino uses id file to identify users and to control access to servers. Every
id file contains:-1. owner's name
2. A permanent license number
3. at least one note certificate from a certifier id. (a notes certificates is an electronic stamp added to a user
id or server id ).
4. Private key.
5. internet certificates (optional for client only).
6. one or more encrypted key created and distributed by users to allow other users to encrypt and decrypt
fields in a document.
7,a password if the owner of the id creates one.
8. issued and expiry details.
9. id file can store up to eight password through id properties.
Types of administrator:-
1. Full access administrator.
2. administrator.
3. database administrator.
4. full remote control administrator.
5. view only administrator.
6. system administrator.
7. Restricted system administrator.
By default sever task
1. Database server—n service.
2. admin process –nadminp
3. schedule manager ---nsched
4. Agent manager---namgr
5. router [mail router]----nrouter.
6. calender connector---ncalcon.
7. repliator---database replicator—nreplica.
8. directory indexer—ntfrs.exe.
9. indexer –update process—n update
10. event monitor. –nevent.
Difference between view and folder:-
View:- views display specific documents with similar criteria in databse.
Eg.a mail database has sent view it displays documents that you sent.
Folders:-folder displays documents. Folders let you organize and display documents as you want to see them.
Benefits of clusters:-
1. high availability of importance database.
2. workload balancing.
3. scalability
4. data synchronization.
5. ease of changing operating systems, hardware and versions of domino (can restricted while
maintenance).
6. system backup.
Components of cluster :-
1. cluster manager.
2. Cluster database directory :- contains database name, server path, and replica id.
3. Cluster database directory manager :- it replicate information of add or delete of database.
4. Cluster administrator :- when you add a server in a cluster, administrator start the cluster tasks.
(cldbdir,clrepl).
5. Cluster replicator.--clrepl
Work load balancing :- you can use server max users settings in the notes.ini file to specify the maximum
no of users allowded to access a server. When server reaches this list then it redirect to another server.
Clubusy.nsf :- only one free time database for all users ,whose mail servers are in cluster.

ACL Vs roles:- difference:-

1. Acl is for database. | Roles is for set of documents.
2. R6 has extended ACL for document and filed level of access.

Types of event generators:- 6 types ( DDMSTT )

1.database :-to monitor acl changes, replication unused space, user inactivity.
2. domino server:-
3. mail
4. Statistics ;- monitor free space.
5.Task status :- for all tasks – adminp , agent manager,
6. TCP server.
Location document: - it contains communication and location specific settings for use with notes client.
Types :-1. home (network dialup)
2.home (notes direct dialup).
3. Internet
4. island (disconnected)
5.office (network)
6.travel (notes direct dialup).
Replication :-
1. Pull-Pull (both server include)—Bi-directional.
2. Pull – Push (default )-only source server include—Bi-directional.
3. Pull only –only source server.---Uni directional.
4. Push only –only source server included. --Uni directional.
Difference between R5 and R6:-
1. same time –R6.
2. Polices - –R6.
3. ExAcl :- –R6.
4. Streaming replication –R6.
5. Windows adsync–R6.
6. Lz1 compression –R6. (Huffman in R5)
7. Centralized directory architecture.
Types of Groups: - (MAMSD)
1. Multipurpose.
2. Access control list only.
3. Mail only.
4. Server only.
5. Deny list only.

Policy types: - (RAS -SD)

1. Registration policy.
2. Archiving policy.
3. Setup.
4. Security.
5. Desktop.

UPDATE/UPDALL:- used to rebuild corrupted views and full text index searches.
• Updall runs by default at 2:00am.
• Update runs automatically when server starts.
Difference between and updall-
update is loaded at server startup by default and runs continually checking its work queue for
views and folders that require updating.
Updall is similar to update, but it doesn't run continually instead you run updall as
needed. You can specify options when you run updall.
Command :-- Load Updall –(switch) database name.
Updall – -------R –rebuild all the full text index and all corrupted views in the database.
-----------X ---rebuild full text index only.
-----------F----update full text index.
--------V---Updates built views and does not update full-text indexes.
Fix up : -fixup is used to repair databases that were open when a server failure occurred. It
runs automatically when server starts.
Command :-Load fixup database path (options).
-------F----Scan all the documents.
-------I----Scan only since last fixup.
------L------report all processed database to logfile.
------Z------don't fixup open database.
------O---Fixup open database.
----------------J---runs on database that are enabled for transaction logging.
---------------Q—checks documents more quickly but less thoroughly.
---------O—------fixup on open databases---if you run fixup on open databases, fixup takes the
databases offline to perform the fixup.
--------Z----------don't fixup open datatbases.
Compact :- can be used to recover space in a database after documents are deleted.
1. In place compacting with space recovery (switch =b)
2. In place compacting with space recovery and reduction in file size (-B).
3. copy style compacting---a copy is created and when compact is completed the original database is
deleted.
-----B--- recovers unused space and does reduce file size.
------b---recover unused space without reducing the file size.
-----C--- copy style compaction..(-l –I---ignore any error).
-----R---- keep or revert database to previous format.
-----D---discard any build view index.
------B-S-X---- compact databases with greater that X% free space.
------L-----enables users to continue to access databases during compacting.

Backup :-

1. Daily
2. Copy
3. Normal
4. incremental
5. differential.
Incremental backup : - A backup of those files which have changed since the last bacjup of any type. For
those files whose attribute bits will change from 0 to 1.
Differential backup :- a backup of those files which have changes since last full backup. It doesn't change
attribute bits.

Replication conflicts and save conflicts : -

A replication conflict occurs when two or more users edit the same document and save the changes in the
different replicas between replications.
Save conflicts: - A save conflict occur when two or more users open and edit the same document at the
same time on the same server, even they are editing the different fields.
