All image adjustments can be performed with the remote
controlwiththeaidoftheOn Screen Display;alternatively,the
unit can be controlled by from a home automation system
throughtheserialport.
ThankstothenewopticalsystembasedonthreeDMDchips
(eachwitharesolutionof180x70pixels),theCX-LINKenables
makingfulluseoftheTexasInstrumentsDLPtechnology.
EachofthethreeDMDisdedicatedtomodulatingoneof
theprimarycoloursfromanopticalprism.
The light reflected by the three DMD devices is recombined
byasecondprismbeforebeingprojectedoutsidebyanap-
propriatesetoflenses.
UsingthreeDMDdevicesmakesitpossibletoobtainimages
withouttherainboweffectoranyartefacts,makingitpossible
tousenaturalcoloursandimagesthataremorerealisticthan
ever.
The appliance has been subjected to exhaustive operating
testsbySIMtoensuremaximumquality.
Thelifetimeofthelampcanthereforeinitiallybeapproximately
0-60hours.
Besidestheusualchecks,theQualityControldepartmentalso
runsadditionalstatisticaltestsbeforedespatch.
Inthisinstancethepackagingmayshowsignsofhavingbeen
opened,andthehoursoperationofthelampmaybehigher
thanthevaluerequiredundercustomaryprocedures.
TheCX-LINKsystemcombinesthesignalprocessingcapa-
bilitiesoftheDigiOpticImageProcessorwiththehighfidelity
reproductionoftheDLPtechnologyProjectorbylinkingthe
twounitsviaafibreopticcable.
TheDigiOpticImageProcessor,whichshouldbeideallylo-
catedclosetothesignalsources,supportsandprocessesa
widerangeofvideosignals,transmittingthemtotheProjector
bymeansofafibreopticlinkcable.
Transmissionoccurswithoutinterferenceorattenuationover
distances of up to 500 metres. Moreover, the flexibility and
smallsizeofthecableallow
easilyinstallingthesysteminyourhome.
The large number of inputs available ( Composite Video
inputs,S-Videoinputs,upto4ComponentorRGBinputs,
graphicRGBinputs,1DVI-Dinputand1HDMI-HDCPinput)
ensuresthesystemsupportsawidevarietyofanaloganddigi-
talsources:DVDplayers,VCRs,satelliteandterrestrialreceivers,
computers,gameconsoles,videocameras,etc.
ThesignalprocessingcapabilitiesoftheImageProcessoren-
sureoptimumreproductionofabroadrangeofinputsignals,
frominterlacedvideotohighdefinitionandgraphics.
Conversionofinterlacedvideosignalstoprogressivesignalsby
meansofDCDitechnologyproducesfluid,natural,images
freeofflickerandstairsteppingartefacts.
Faithfulreproductionofsignalsathigherresolutions(suchas
high definition video and graphics) occurs without loss of
information or reduction of image sharpness thanks to the
processorshighpixelratesignalacquisitioncapabilities.

DLPandDMDareregisteredtrademarksofTexasInstruments.

Read all chapters of this manual carefully before switching on the projector. This manual provides basic instructions for using the C3x
system. Installation, preliminary adjustments and procedures that necessitate opening the units and touching electrical components must
be carried out by authorised, trained technicians. To ensure safe and long term reliability use exclusively the power cables supplied by the
manufacturer. Observe all warnings and cautions.

ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION
Theproductyouhavepurchasedcontainsmaterialsobtainedfromnaturalresourcesusedintheprocessofconstruction.
This product could contain substances considered to be hazardous for the environment and health. In order to prevent
harmfulsubstancesfromgettingintotheenvironmentandtoincreasetheuseofnaturalsubstances,SIMMultimediapro-
videsthefollowinginformationonthedisposalandrecyclingofthematerialswhentheproductisbeingdecommissioned.
Thewasteofelectricandelectronicdevices(WEE)mustneverbeputintoordinarydustbinsforurbanwaste(residentialwaste
collection).Thelabelaffixedontheproduct,shownherealongside,withthesymbolofabarredwastebinisareminderto
dealwiththeproductappropriatelyattheendofitsusefullife.
Substancessuchasglass,plasticandsomechemicalcompoundscanlargelyberecovered,recycledandreused.You
canmakeyourcontributiontotheenvironmentbyfollowingthesesimplerules:
1. When your electric or electronic device is no longer useful for you, take it to your local waste disposal centre so the
product can be recycled.
2. Your product can be returned to your dealer free of charge when you purchase an equivalent appliance or one that
performs the same functions. Call SIM2 Multimedia to locate your nearest dealer.
3. If you need any further assistance as regards recycling, reusing or changing the product, you can contact our cus-
tomer service on the phone number given in the user manual and we will be glad to help you.

Be careful with cables.
Arrangecablesinsuchawaythattheywillnotcauseany
obstruction.
Keepcablesoutofthereachofsmallchildren.
Installtheunitsascloseaspossibletothewallelectrical
socket outlet. Do not tread on the power cables, make
surethattheyarenottangledorpulled;donotexposethe
powercablestoheatsources;makesurethatthepower
cables do not become knotted or kinked. If the power
cables become damaged, stop using the system and
requesttheassistanceofanauthorisedtechnician.
Read this manual and keep it safe
This manual contains important information on how to
installandusethisequipmentcorrectly.Beforeusingthe
equipment,readthesafetyprescriptionsandinstructions
carefully.Keepthemanualforfutureconsultation.
Do not touch internal parts of the units.
Theunitscontainelectricalpartscarryinghighvoltagesand
operatingathightemperatures.Donotremovethecover
fromtheunits,refertoqualifiedservicepersonnelforallrepair
andmaintenancerequirements.Thewarrantywillbeauto-
maticallyinvalidatedifthecoverisremovedfromtheunits.
Disconnecting the appliance from the power supply.
The device for disconnecting the units from the mains
powersupplyisconstitutedbythepowercableplug.Ensure
thatthepowercableplugsandtheelectricalmainssocket
outletsareeasilyaccessibleduringinstallationoperations.
Todisconnecttheunitsfromtheelectricpowersupply,pull
theplugtoremoveitfromthesocketoutlet.Donotpullthe
powercable.
Connect the appliance only to the type of power supply
indicated
Connect the units to a mains electrical supply with rated
voltageofbetween100-40VAC,50/60Hzandequipped
withaprotectiveearthconnection.Ifyouareunsureofthe
typeofmainspowersupplyinyourhome,consultaqualified
electrician.Ensurethatthepowerdrawoftheunitsiscom-
mensuratewiththeratingoftheelectricalsocketoutletsand
anyextensioncablesthatareused.FortheDigiOpticImage
Processoruseexclusivelythepowersupplyunitprovidedoran
alternativepowersupplyunitexpresslyapprovedbySIM.

Changing the fuses.
Before changing the fuse disconnect the unit from the
mains power supply.
The fuse compartment is near to the mains power con-
nector(Fig.).Removefusecarrier()withtheaidofaflat
bladescrewdriver,thenchangefuse().Insertanewspare
fuse(4).UseonlyT5AHfuses.

Disconnect the unit from the mains power supply in the
event of electrical storms and when not in use.
Toavoiddamagethatcouldbecausedbylightningstriking
inthevicinityofyourhome,disconnecttheunitsintheevent
ofelectricalstormsorwhenthesystemwillremainunused
forprolongedperiods.
Avoid contact with liquids and exposure to damp.
Donotusetheunitsnearwater(sinks,tanks,etc.);donot
placeobjectscontainingliquidsontopoforneartheunits
anddonotexposethemtorain,humidity,drippingwater
orspray;donotusewaterorliquiddetergentstocleanthe
units.

Prevent the units from overheating.


In order to permit adequate cooling, leave a gap of at
least40cmatthebackoftheProjector.
Donotobstructventilationopenings.
Donotplacetheunitsnearheatsourcessuchasheaters,
radiators or other devices that generate heat (including
amplifiers).
Do not position the units in confined places (bookcase,
shelves,etc.)and,ingeneral,avoidputtingthedevicesin
poorlyventilatedplaceswheretherewouldbeinsufficient
cooling.
Never look directly at the projection lamp.
Neverlookdirectlyatthelenswhentheprojectorisonsince
thebrightlightcoulddamageyoursight.Inthisconnection,
payspecialattentiontochildren.
Be careful with the movements of the lens.
Donotputanytingintothesideslotsinthelensandmake
suretherearenoobstructionstothehorizontalandvertical
movementsofthelens.
Position the unit on a stable surface.
The projector must be positioned on a stable, suitable
platform or be installed using a bracket for fixed ceiling
orwallinstallation.Donotresttheprojectorontheside
panelsorontherearpanelwheninoperation.
Do not insert objects through the openings in the unit.
Makesurethatnoobjectsareinsertedinsidetheunits.Ifthis
shouldoccur,disconnecttheunitfromthepowersupply
immediatelyandcallanauthorisedtechnician.
Energy saving
It is recommended to cut off the power supply to the
Projector and DigiOptic Image Processor units when
they are not used. In this way, besides obtaining consi-
derable energy savings, the internal electrical parts are
protected against wear.

ToremovetheCX-LINKsystemfromitscartonfollowthedirec-
tionsillustratedhere(Fig.4).
Thecartonandpackagingshouldberetainedforfutureuse
andintheunlikelyeventthatyoursystemneedstobereturned
forrepair.

4 INSTALLATION
POSITIONING THE TWO UNITS
The CX-LINK system consists of two separate units (the Di-
giOpticImageProcessorandtheProjector),eachofwhichis
equippedwithapowercable;thetwounitsareinterconnected
bya0mfibreopticcable.

Positiontheprojectoronastable,suitableplatformorutilisethe
optionalbracketforafixedceilinginstallation.
CAUTION:Inthecaseofceilingmountingusingasuspension
bracket,followtheinstructionscarefullyandcomplywiththe
safetystandardsyouwillfindintheboxtogetherwiththebracket.
IfyouuseabracketdifferenttotheonesuppliedbySIM,you
must make sure that the projector is at least 65 mm (-9/16
inch)fromtheceilingandthatthebracketisnotobstructing
theairventsonthesidesoftheProjector.
Position the projector the desired distance from the screen:
thesizeoftheprojectedimageisdeterminedbythedistance
from the lens of the projector to the screen and the optical
zoomsetting.SeetheADDitiOnAl inFOrmAtiOnsectionfor
moredetails.
CONNECTING THE TWO UNITS
ThesystemcanbefullycontrolledusingthesuppliedIR(infra-
red)remotecontrolhandset.Thereisasingleremotecontrol
forboththeDigiOpticImageProcessorandtheProjector;the
remotecontrolcanbedirectedtowardseitherunitsincethey
arebothequippedwithanIRsensoratthefrontandoneon
thebackoftheprojector.
Theconnectionbetweenthetwounitsismadewithasingle
cablecontainingthreefibreopticcableseachterminatingin
anLCconnector.Thestandardcablelengthof0mwillbe
sufficientformostinstallationrequirements.
Duringinstallationofthefibreopticcable:
Theindividualopticalcablesaredelicate:alwayshandle
the main cable without touching the individual optical
cables(Fig.7).Neverpulltheindividualopticalcablesor
connectors;ifnecessary,youmaypullthemainthree-core
cable.
Only remove the cap protecting the connector ferrule
immediatelybeforeinsertingtheconnector;iftheferruleis
allowedtocomeintocontactwithforeignmaterialitmay
bedamaged,makingtheconnectorunusable.
Takeparticularcarewheninsertingfibreopticconnectorsin
theirrespectivesocketsontherearpaneloftheDigiOptic
ImageProcessorandonthebackoftheProjector.
POSITIONING THE DIGIOPTIC IMAGE PROCESSOR
TheideallocationfortheDigiOpticImageProcessorisona
cabinetshelforonarack(dimensionsarecompatiblewitha
standard19rack).Makesurethatthesupportsurfaceisstable
andthattheunithassufficientspacearounditforventilation
purposes(atleastcm).
Theunitisconnectedtothemainsviaanexternalpowersupply
unitwithanoutputof+7Vdc;theunitsmainpowerswitchis
onthepowersupplyunit.
Connect the power supply unit output cable to the POWER
socketlocatedontherearpanel(Fig. 2).
Useexclusivelythepowersupplyunitprovidedwiththesystemor
analternativepowersupplyunitexpresslyapprovedbySIM.
ForrackmountingoftheDigiOpticImageProcessorusethe
screwsandLH/RHsupportssuppliedwiththeproduct.
UndothescrewsfixingthecovertothebaseoftheDigiOptic,
positiontheLHandRHsupportsandsecurethemtotheunit
withthescrewssupplied.Usethesuppliedscrewstosecurethe
unittotherack(Fig.6).

masking systems for the screen when changing the aspect

radiusofbendsinthecableiscm.
Preventthecablefrompullingandmechanicalstress:this
couldcausetheconnectorstobepulledoutanddama-
ged.
Afterremovingtheprotectivecapsfromthefibreopticcable
connectors and the panel connectors, insert the fibre optic
connectorscarefully,matchingthenumbersshownoneach
element(Fig.8-9).Beverycarefullywhenhandlingfibreoptics
andconnectors.

For front projection, we recommend the use of screens with
lowgainspecifications.
Preferably use unitary gain screens; directive screens with
ahighgaincanbeeffectivelyusedonlyforsmallgroupsof
spectatorscentraltothescreen.
Avoidlightshiningdirectlyonthescreenduringprojectionas
thiswillreducecontrastandblackleveldetailontheprojected
image.
Furnitureandotherobjectswithreflectingsurfaces,aswellas
light coloured walls should be avoided, as they are likely to
interferewiththescreenscharacteristics.
CONNECTING THE VIDEO SOURCES
Connectthecablesfromthevideosources,theserialcable
fromanexternalcontrolunitandthefibreopticcablesforhoo-
kingupwiththeProjectortotherearpaneloftheDigiOptic
ImageProcessor.
To obtain the best performance from the CX-LINK system,
connectthevarioussignalsourcesusinggoodqualitycables
designedforvideoapplications.
Ensurethat:
thecablesareroutedinsuchawaythattheydonotpresent
anobstructiontopeoplemovingaroundtheroom;
theconnectorsareinsertedcarefullytoavoiddamaging
thepins;
thecablesarenottwistedorcrushed;
whendisconnectingthecablestheconnectorsarenotvio-
lentlypulledoutoftheconnectorsonthevariousunits.
Video sources (television receivers, VCRs, DVD players, etc.)
oftenfeatureseveraloutputs.Toobtainthebestperformance
fromyoursystem,carefullychoosewhichoutputtouse.Gene-
rally,thetypeofsignalofferingthebestpicturequalityisHDMI,
followedbyDVI-D,RGB,Components,S-VideoandComposite
Video,inthatorder.
However,theCX-LINKsystemisequippedwithanexcellent
Video Decoder and Deinterlacer and therefore even inferior
qualitysignalswillproducehighqualityresults.

Input5canreceiveRGBandYCrCbsignalsnothigherthan
kHz.Ineffect,toprovidehighpicturequalityevenwithrelatively
inaccuratesources,theinputsignalisprocessedbyspecific
circuitsintheDigiOpticImageProcessor.
Thevideosignalsthatcanbeconnectedtoinputs6-7-8can
havehorizontalscanningfrequenciesof15kHz(standardvideo
resolution),kHz,orhigher(progressivescanningvideo,high
definitionvideo).
Somesourcesprovidethefacilitytochoosebetweenapro-
gressivesignaloraninterlacedsignal.Althoughingenerala
progressive signal is higher quality than an interlaced signal,
it is often preferable to perform the deinterlacing operation
ontheCX-LINKsystemratherthanonthesource.Progressive
signals usually provide better quality than interlaced signals,
butifthesourcefeaturesbothprogressiveanddeinterlaced
signaloutputsitisgoodpracticetocomparethequalityofthe
picturesreproducedbytheCXLINKsysteminthetwocases:
deinterlacingperformedbytheCXLINKsystemisoftenmore
effectivethanthatperformedatthesource(typicallyaDVD
player).

ThisinputshouldbeconnectedtoanRGB-typevideoorgraphic
signalusingacablewithaDB15HDtypeconnector.
The signal source device (typically a personal computer or
gameconsole)mustbeabletoprovideseparateH/Vsynchro-
nisationorcompositeH+Vsynchronisation.
Thevideoorgraphicsignalsthatcanbeconnectedtothisinput
canhavehorizontalscanfrequencies(H-sync)ofbetween
and80kHzandaverticalfrequency(V-sync)ofbetween48
and100Hz.Imageresolutioncanvarybetween640x480and

Thisinputprovidesthefacilitytoexploitthequalityofthedigital
imagetoitsbestadvantage.Ifthesourceisequippedwitha
DVI-D output (with a YCrCb or RGB signal), connect it to this
inputtogetthemostoutofyourCX-LINKsystem.
HDMI 12
Thisinputprovidesthefacilitytointegratetheexcellentquality
ofadigitalimagewithamultichannelaudiosignal.
InfacttheHighDefinitionMultimediaInterface(HDMI)com-
bines the uncompressed high definition video signal with a
multichannelaudiosignal.
Inaddition,theinterfaceenablescontroldatatobeexchan-
gedbetweenthevideosourceandtheHome theatresystem
inordertooptimisetheprojectedpicture.
TheHDMIinputmakesitpossibletoconnecttovideosour-
ces that use the High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection
protocol(HDCP)toprotecttheircontents.Thisispossiblebe-
causetheHDCPprotocolformspartofthedefinitionofHDMI
technology.
Once the video source has been connected to the HDMI
input, the internal processing performed by the DigiOptic
ImageProcessorseparatesthevideoandaudioinformation.
The audio information is made available on a digital output
with a female TOSLINK connector in compliance with the S/
PDIFstandard.
CONTROL (RS232)
The system can be controlled via a personal computer or
homeautomationsystemsbymeansoftheserialport:simply
connectthisinputviaaserialcablefromanRSserialport.

7 REMOTE CONTROL
The remote control transmits commands to the system by
infraredsignals.
Thesystemisequippedwithtwoinfraredsensors,atthefrontand
rearoftheProjectorandonthefrontpaneloftheDigiOptic
ImageProcessor.
Avoidplacingobstructionsbetweentheremotecontroland
theinfraredsensors;thiswouldimpairremotecontrolperfor-
mance.
It is possible to control the projector by pointing the remote
controlatthescreen;thesensoratthefrontoftheprojector
willpickupthereflectedinfraredcommands(Fig.16).

usefultodisplaythesignalrelativetothegreyscalewithinwhich
the black level and the level immediately above it must be
separatelyidentifiable.Alternativelyuseascenecomposedof
blackobjectsalongsideotherdarkcolouredobjects.
CONTRAST
Usethiscontroltoadjusttheimagesblacklevelwithoutaffecting
whiteareas.
Toensurecorrectadjustment,itmayproveusefultodisplaythe

This adjustment serves to select the noise reduction filter va-
lue.
Whentheoptionisselectedinthemenuthepictureisdivided
intotwo.Onthelefthandsidethepictureisnotaffectedbythe
filterwhilethefilterisactiveontherighthandside;thismakesit
possibletocomparethechangesresultingfromnoisefiltration
withacleanunfilteredimage.ITispossibletodeactivatethe
filter(NOTACTIVE)usingtheautomatic(AUTO)settingormanually
(MANUAL)selectingthemostsuitablevalueforthepicturewith

IMAGE
This menu features adjustments relating to picture position,
aspectratio,magnificationetc.
ASPECT
This adjustment allows you to change the dimensions and
aspect ratio (relationship between width and height) of the
displayedimage.Therearefivepresetaspectsavailableand
threepersonalisedaspects(withuser-settableparameters).You
can select a different aspect for each source: the selected
aspect ratio will be automatically called the next time the
relativesourceiscalled.
You can also select the required aspect ratio by repeatedly
pressingthe key,orbypressing andanumericalkey
(1...8).
Thefollowingaspectsareavailable:
NORMAL: projects the image occupying the full height of the
screenwhilemaintainingtheaspectratiooftheinputsignal.
Whentheinputsignalaspectratiois4:blackverticalbands
aredisplayedontherightandleftofthepicture.
ANAMORPHIC:allowsa16:9picturetobedisplayedcorrectly.
LETTERBOX:servestodisplaya4:letterboximage(withsource
signalhavingblackbandsaboveandbelowthepicture)sothat
itfillsthe16:9screenandmaintainsthecorrectaspectratio.
PANORAMIC:stretchesthe4:image,slightlycroppingtheupper
andlowerparts.Panoramicisidealfordisplayinga4:image
onthe16:9screenoftheDisplay.
PIXELTOPIXEL:displaystheimageasitisinputwithoutadapting
it to the screen. The image is projected in the centre of the
screenandifitshorizontaland/orverticaldimensionsaresmal-
lerthanthedisplay,itisboundedbyverticaland/orhorizontal
blackbands.
USER1,,:whennoneofthepresetformulasaresuitable.The
User formulas are available, with the facility for continuous
horizontalandverticaladjustmentofpicturesize.
SCREENControl.Ifanappropriatescreen-maskinginterfaceis
connectedtothe1Voutputsocketitispossibletore-frame
thescreentoavarietyofaspectratiosandscreensizes(please
refertothescreenmanufacturersmanual).

COLOR TEMPERATURE
Changesthecolourbalanceoftheimage.
Thecolourtemperatureisadjustedbypositioningthewhitedot
intheCIEchromaticitydiagram.Thesystemmakesitpossible
to position the white dot in a grid with 6 dots in the neutral
colourzone(Fig. 21).

GAMMA CORRECTION
Determinesthesystemsresponsetothegreyscale,emphasi-
singorattenuatingthedifferentlevelsofbrightness(blacks,dark,
medium,lightgreys,whites)formingtheprojectedimage.
The projector has several gamma functions to display any
imageinthebestwayforthetypeofvideosourceapplied,
theconditionsofenvironmentalbrightnessandthesubjective
preferencesoftheobserver.
Thereare4groupsofgammacurves:Standard(ST),Enhanced
SIM(EN)andGraphics(GR),User.TheStandardcurvehasbeen
definedforgeneraluseforvariousimagesfromsourcessuch
asvideocameras,digitalcameras,andfordisplayingfilmsor
photographsfromapersonalcomputer.TheEnhancedgroupis
suitedtodisplaycinemamaterial.TheGraphicsgroupissuited
to display graphics (desktop PC, CAD, PC presentations,).
SelectingtheUsersettingdefinesthecurveaccordingtopa-
rameters.Theusercanthenselectthecoefficientdetermining
thecurve.Coefficientsofbetween1.5and.emphasisethe
detailindarkimagesbutreducetheglobalperceptionofthe
contrast.Valueshigherthan.increasetheglobalpercep-
tionofthecontrastbutattenuatetheperceptionofdetailin
the dark areas of the image. With the most common video
sources,overscanvaluescanbebetween0(nooverscanning)
and(maximumoverscanning).Theresultingimagealways
maintains the selected aspect irrespective of the selected
overscanvalue.
POSITION
Usethisadjustmenttopositiontheimageverticallyandhorizon-
tally.Determinestheaspectratiooftheprojectedimage.
Theseparametersdonotnormallyrequireadjustmentbecause
thesystemcheckstheinputsignalandautomaticallysetsthe
most suitable values. However, if the image is not perfectly
centraliseditmayproveusefultorequestthesystemtorepeat
the input signal analysis and image positioning, calling the
automatic control procedure with the A key on the remote
controlortheAUTOkeyonthekeypad.Whenthisprocedureis
calleditishelpfultohaveawhileorlightcolouredbackground
onthescreeninthecurrentpicture.Iftheimagepositioning
obtainedinthiswayisnotsatisfactory,itisthenwisetousethe
positioncontrol.
FREqUENcy/pHaSE
Theseadjustments,availableforprogressivesignalsandforsi-
gnalsfromaPC,ensurecorrespondencebetweenthenumber
ofpixelsmakingupthesignalandthenumberofpixelsthat
makeuptheprojectedimage.
Theseparametersdonotnormallyrequireadjustmentbecause
thesystemcheckstheinputsignalandautomaticallysetsthe
mostsuitablevalues.However,iftheimageappearsdisturbed

image.Foragivenvideostandard(e.g.PALorNTSC)thestored
valuedoesnotnormallyrequirefurtherfine-tuning,unlessthe
sourceorconnectioncablehaschanged.

The setup menu contains less frequently used adjustments
that may be required during installation (such as the display
ofTestPatterns).

PROJECTION LENS
TheZOOMadjustmentactsonthemotorisedzoomofthelens,
makingitpossibletowidenornarrowthesizeoftheprojected
image. The FOCUS adjustment acts on the motorised lens
focus to achieve maximum clarity. With optimum focus you
should be able to clearly see each single pixel when within
closeproximitytothescreen.
AssociatedwiththeZOOMandFOCUScontrols,theCX-LINK
systemprovidestwotestimagestouseifyoudonothavea
suitable signal to optimise these parameters. After selecting
theZOOMorFOCUSmenu,thekeyretrievesthetestimage
suited to the current adjustment, after focusing or choosing
therequiredzoom(withtheandkeys),pressingthekey
once more removes the test screen. In the initial phase of
installation,theconfigurableremotecontrolkeys(F1,F)per-
formthefunctionsofopticalzoomandopticalfocus(Fig.26).
Afterwards the function of these keys can be changed (see
F1/FKEYSintheMENUsection).

10 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
TheDigiOpticImageProcessordonotrequireinternaladjust-
mentsanddonotcontainanyuser-serviceableparts.
Tochangethelamp,orforanyrepairs,alwayscontactyour
nearesttechnicalservicecentrethatwillresolveallyourpro-
blemsinacourteousandefficientmanner.
Tocleantheoutercoveroftheprojectoruseasoftclothand
moistenslightlyifnecessarywithwaterandasmallamountof
neutralsoap.Donotrubhardontheprintedcaptionsonthe
rearpanel.
Thelensmaybecleanedwithaverysoft,non-abrasivesmall
brush,inordertoremovedustparticles.Alternatively,useasoft
drycleaningcloth(ofthetypeusedforcameralenscleaning)
toremovefingerprintsandgreasemarks.
