Welding Pig
In-situ pipe sealing capability

Product Description & Function The Welding Pig is a special pig developed by PE to seal the ends of pipes. This pig allows pipe welding to be carried out prior to laying land based pipelines or on vessels prior to placement subsea. The Welding Pig is used to create an inert atmosphere in the pipe so that welds can be carried out. PEs Welding Pig is suitable for pipe sizes from 8 and above.

Benefits for Operators PEs Welding Pig provides many benefits: > Easy to insert into pipes > Easy to remove when either mid-line or end-line tie-ins are completed > All required work can be completed onsite > Suitable for refurbishment and reuse leading to significant cost savings

Design, Development and Testing Engineering expertise is used to design, test and build the Welding Pig to meet the exact requirements of the pipeline where it will be used. Computer aided design capability is used to develop the Welding Pig and if required, prototype pigs can be tested in purpose built test loops.

On-site Services Our Engineering Team is available to provide support services worldwide. All our engineers are fully certified and trained for onshore and offshore operations.

Insertion, Operation and Removal The Welding Pig is positioned in the pipeline and the sealing tyres are inflated with water or air using a connector hose to inflate the tyre connection to hold up to 2 bar differential pressure. When the required welding has been completed, the Welding Pig can be pigged or pulled from the pipeline. PE works with its clients to ensure all operational requirements are met in the functionality of the Welding Pig.
