• River flow access
• Well railway communication
• Easy port access through natural port i.e. the Chalna anchorage & Mongla port.
• Availability of raw materials (especially over production of Jute and resources from
Sundarbans)
• Cheap labor because of lack of alternative livelihood options.

In 60 decades there were 78 jute mills in south-western region. But it is true that now
there are only 22 jute mills. Industries are layout one by one. All industries that
established before 1971 were performing very well. But after 1971 when all industries
keep under nationalization their performance was decrease and fall in loss due to various
reasons. Privatization was start since 80 decades.

- Workers who retired under Golden Hand Sheik not get their dues.
- Union & administration are not plays good role
- Brokers are common problem
 - To received dues workers are file their case in labour court. But they don't get any
result.

- Mills are fully layout in 2005
- Laboures are receiving very little percentage of their due share. So, they lead very
pretty life.
- Mills are layout due to Govt. wrong decision and pressure of International
organization i.e. world bank etc.
- Wrong market strategy

Hard Board Mill

- This mill also layout in 2005.
- At the present time mill is in running condition, but its future is not bright.
- Employees are work there in casual basis. Their salary is very minimum.
- Now no. of workers are 200 here only 95 labors are permanent.

Daulatpur Jute Mill

- This mill also layout in 2005
- Before layout no. of workers were around 2000
- Workers salary are not paid
Mills that are in running position are not in good condition, they closed in any time. We
should take step about them.
