Black swan review a film of a women getting the main role in swan lake, having to play a role as a black

fig.1 Poster art Black Swan. A very interesting image, showing the dark, let loose side to black swan rather than the visual sweet side shown during most of the film, i feel very lost within this film as i do not know ballet, however i feel as if the film did not work on the psychological level, as seeing through the eyes of lead actress,Natalie portman as Nina, the the emotion slowly builds up in The film whereas within psychology it is all in your mind, so you question the film too much to believe was anything real? Undoubtedly very visually edgy and the art direction and camera work are stylized and tense,( Jack, 2011) But the visuals are key from begginning to end and i feel the musical suspense and tension was brought out more so to get the viewers to suspect and comprehend with the storyline. whereas with psychological tricks it is all in the mind and i dont feel as if this film dealt with the psychological aspect in a correct manner, rather than a sloppy version of how daunting the true story would be and how it would affect you.

fig.2 Black swan practise As many critics have said, the main view within this film is the mirror and lighting and also the musical aspect, i believe the mirror idea is a very clever way to portray pyschology, as it shows the human form and yourself from every angle, and where ever you are there will be other sides to you and different angle to approaching things, also with the idea of the Doppelganger, i feel is needed for this film to work in the way in which it did, however i feel they related it too much to being light and dark and polar opposites rather than the actual realization of mistaking someone else for yourself in a different light. rather than visually showing the darkness of clothing other than mentally seeing the attitude and yourself as somebody else.

fig.3 Preparation for practise The film scores in the friction it creates between style and content, between its social-realist aesthetics hand-held cameras; grainy, sometimes under-lit photography; dogged, behind-shoulder tracking of Nina(Sandhu, 2011) which shows the limited view from the angles in which you view nina so really

getting close and personal through the eyes of her, without actually showing her through her eyes but more relative to her consiousness, which shows her mind in general and what its going through. Her mental disintegration is, primarily, a plot device: the shards of her sanity twinkle brilliantly while never cutting to viewers( Graham, 2010) which i feel worked in a sense that viewers can understand the mental problems she is faced and being faced with throughout the story and follows the life and progression of the insanity to the closeness of her becoming the Black Swan.
