Public Relations Coordinator promotes a positive Responsive Education Solutions (ResponsiveEd) image by planning, organizing, and implementing media, marketing and public relations strategies and activities to proactively publicize the ResponsiveEds operations. Qualifications: Education/Certification Must have a Bachelors degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field from an accredited College or University. Experience 2+ years of experience in media or public relations. Agency experience or internship preferred Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Advanced knowledge of principles and practices of media communications, journalism, and public and community relations. Advanced knowledge of principles and practices of composing and editing informational material that complies with AP Style. Knowledge of public information laws and policies regarding the dissemination of information to the media and public. Advanced knowledge of current techniques and strategies for public relations and media relations programs. Advanced knowledge of news media interview techniques and preparation. Advanced knowledge of writing styles to inform, persuade and educate diverse audiences. Advanced knowledge of research methods and techniques. Must have proven skills with English composition, spelling, grammar and punctuation to produce news articles, press releases and other written communications. Must have proven skills with effectively communicating orally in both one-on-one and group situations. Must have proven skills with writing a variety of news articles and press releases in the AP style and proper format. Must have proven skills with reviewing, proofreading, editing and verifying written materials for accuracy and adherence to policies and procedures. Must have proven skills with the proficient use of standard Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Publisher, and other publishing software. Ability to communicate with the media, community, employee and public interest groups, as well as a variety of government and political officials, including representatives of the State Board of Education.

Ability to gather and verify media information through interview, observation and research. Ability to produce a wide variety of written materials with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and contacts with the public, news media, government officials, including the State Board of Education, and others contacted in the course of assignment. Ability to accurately interpret policies and procedures to provide and clarify information. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor during stressful and highly visible situations. Ability to work within stringent deadlines to complete projects and assignments on time. Ability to manage and protect confidential or sensitive information. Ability to read, understand, interpret, and assimilate a wide variety of information and complex written material. Ability to respond to public and media requests in a courteous and effective manner. Ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple priorities effectively. Ability to travel as necessary.

Preferred KSAs 3-5 years of experience maintaining and supporting media relations department for a public or charter school. 3-5 years of experience maintaining and supporting media or public relations for an agency or non-profit organization. Responsibilities and Duties: Identifies and assesses various needs for public relations support across ResponsiveEd. Designs, plans and implements communication strategies and campaigns for a variety of media, marketing and public relations programs. Collaborate with web team members to enhance website press releases and develop innovative ways to effectively meet media and public relation needs and demands. Consults with ResponsiveEds personnel in identifying and developing positive storylines to promote the organizations operations, programs and services through various written materials. Writes, prepares, reviews, and edits press releases, articles, speeches, marketing materials, and/or recruiting information. Provides information to media outlets by generating news releases and articles, holding press conferences, and acting as a media liaison to disseminate ResponsiveEds related information to inform and educate the public. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with representatives of media, community, employee and public interest groups, as well as a variety of government and political officials, including representatives of the State Board of Education. Prepares a variety of written and educational material for the State Legislature to promote the activities and interests of ResponsiveEd. Consults with ResponsiveEds personnel to provide employees with strategies and training on media and public relations protocol. Monitors media coverage and provides written responses to media inquiries. Researches and identifies trends, key group interests and public concerns. Work cooperatively with key team members, company staff, parents, vendors, and constituents. Perform special projects, during and after normal business hours, and other duties as assigned. Ability to travel as necessary.
