Chapter 1 – Description
The point of this minigame is to destroy all the portals
before the Void Knight in the middle is killed.

The Void Knights are devoted to keeping the

balance that exists on Gielinor as decreed
by Guthix. In the past this meant little
more than the odd assassination but times
are changing. Recently creatures from
another realm have started breaking through
into this one, though so far their
incursions are limited to small islands to
the south. Outposts were constructed near
the areas of regular breaches to house the
Void Knights whose magic was used to close
the portals. Unfortunately the invaders have
become more aggressive and have managed to
overrun some outposts before the ritual
could be completed. Can someone help the
Void Knights' effort and fight back against
the creatures?
Chapter 2 – What To Bring.

The above image contains what I recommend

for Pest Control. ALWAYS bring a dragon
dagger super poison, this will make the most
of your special bar and hits well against
the portals. I usually come with the above
outfit and a whip in my inventory. If you
wish to repair walls and gates bring a
hammer and hatchet. As you will be attacking
and defending against a large number of
creatures you should bring your best armour.
If you are going as a mage, you will need
runes for your spells. If you are going as a
ranger, you will need your arrows.

*note - any runes used or ammo lost will not be returned.

*note – Cannons are not allowed on the island.

*note – Do not fear dying, if you perish in your struggle

you will not lose any items and you will be respawned on
the island.
Chapter 3 – General Points
This mini game is located at the Void Knights outpost. To
get there, talk to the squire located on the most southern
dock in Port Sarim.

When you decide you want to join the efforts of the Void
Knights, cross the gangplank to board the lander. The
lander will leave after 5 minutes if 5 or more people are
in the lander, or automatically when the lander is full (25
people). The current departure status will be found in the
upper left corner of your screen as shown below.

When you arrive on the island the battle has begun! The aim
of the game is to defend the Void Knight, and not let him
die to claim your reward. The amount of creatures in the
game is dependant on the amount of people in the game. The
bigger the group, the more creatures will come through the
portals (Usually a lot).

There are 4 portals which need to be destroyed in order to

achieve victory. One is to the East, one to the South-East,
one to the South-West, and one to the West. The Hitpoints
of each portal is displayed in the upper right corner of
your screen as shown below.

The health of the Void Knight and the damage you have done
will be shown in the upper left corner during battle as
shown below.
Chapter 4 – Monsters
Below is a list of the various monsters you will encounter
while aiding the void knights in their quest to keep
balance.
BEWARE THE SPINNERS THEY HEAL THE PORTALS.

Brawler
Level 50, 75, 100, 128, 157

Brawlers are large monsters, varying in combat level and

colouring. Generally these lumbering beasts will defend the
portals and not stray too far towards the fort, however
beware, for they will try to crush anyone who gets in their
way!

Ravager
Level 35, 52, 70, 88, 105

Ravagers are small humanoid beings with mole like claws.

Varying again in combat level, colouring and hence
difficulty, Ravagers will have no problem tearing down and
through defences with their claws. If you are to defend
well, it is important to kill these before you lose your
gates!

Spinner
Level 37, 55, 74, 87, 92

Spinners appear to float above the ground and use spider

like legs to repair the portals. They will not stray into
fighting to take the Void Knight, but must be killed if any
effort to destroy a portal is undertaken as they can repair
damage very fast.

Torcher
Level 33, 50, 67, 83, 100

Torchers are again varied in colour and combat level. These

are winged creatures that fly towards the Knight to attack.
Similarly to the Defilers, Torchers will use very long
distance attacks, however these are magical fire.
Defiler
Level 33, 50, 67, 84, 101

Defilers are agile and fast movers, again varying in combat

level and colouring. Beware, for they throw large barbs
over great distances, and hence have the ability to attack
you (or the Void Knight) from far away, inflicting large
damage.

Shifter
Level 37, 56, 75, 94, 113

Shifters are dangerous melee fighters, with large spines on

their backs. Again with different combat levels and
colouring watch out for these creatures because they can
create small portals for themselves to teleport short
distances away. Beware: they can teleport past walls!

Splatter
Level 21, 32, 43, 54, 64

Splatters look like a large ball of pulsing fluid with one

eye in the middle. They should not be underestimated at
all. Splatters are dangerous, as they will happily bounce
towards your fort and explode! This inflicts damage on
nearby objects and/or players. They will also damage any
other nearby monsters.
Chapter 5 – Tactics

I created this guide in hopes of getting together a

clan event for Pest Control. Therefore I will base
the tactics on having a full group of players
averaging level 100.

The basic tactics are to:

1.Go and destroy the portals.

2. Stay and protect the Void Knight in the middle.
3. Climb up one of the ladders to defend the Void
Knight there (Using Magic and Ranged).

Ideally I would like to have 5 groups of 5 people

which would use the maximum number of people. In
each group I would like to have 4 melee and 1
Ancient magick’s people. The 4 melee people will
attack the portal itself while the ancient mage
will stand back a few squares to ice barrage or ice
burst spinners when they appear.

Group 1 – Attacks the East portal and reinforces

other groups in a clockwise priority when they
destroy their portal.

Group 2 - Attacks the South-East portal and

reinforces the group in priority of whichever
portal has the most hp remaining when they destroy
their portal.

Group 3 - Attacks the South-West portal and

reinforces the group in priority of whichever
portal has the most hp remaining when they destroy
their portal.

Group 4 – Attacks the West portal and reinforces

other groups in a COUNTER-clockwise priority when
they destroy their portal.
Group 5 – Defends the Void knight.

For Group 5 I have created a picture showing where

the Shifters will attempt to teleport to. The green
circle represents the void knight.

If four members of group 5 stand directly to the

north, south, west, and east of the void knight, he
will be untouchable by melee. This allows the
ancients mage to ice barrage/burst the shifters in
large groups and the melee can help so long as they
stay in their designated spot. Generally The long
range mage/archer foes will not hit the void
knight, or if they do it will be for low damage.
Chapter 6 – Rewards!

Victory by defending the Void

Knight for 20 minutes
(Very uncommon)
For lasting the 20 minutes against the creatures, and
keeping the Void Knight from death, you will be awarded 1
point which gives free experience in a Combat skill of your
choice from Attack, Defence, Strength, Hitpoints, Ranged,
Magic or Prayer. The amount of experience you get is your
level in that skill squared and then divided by 6. If you
choose Prayer, it is divided by 12.

Victory by destroying all Portals

For destroying all the portals you will be awarded 1 free
point which gives experience in a Combat skill of your
choice from Attack, Defence, Strength, Hitpoints, Ranged,
Magic or Prayer AND you will also receive coins based on
your combat level.

*Note - If you do not deal more than 50 points of hitpoint

damage total (on any monsters or portals), you will not be
awarded a point. You can also earn 5 of these damage points
for repairing broken barriers.

*Note - You can only have a maximum of 250 points. To cash

your points in, speak to or right-click and select
“Exchange” with a Void Knight found on and around the
Outpost. The Void Knights will only offer training in
skills that you have at level 25 or above.

Rewards
Below are the rewards available to exchange your
Void Knight Commendations for.
After you confirm your selection you will receive
the below message with whatever stat you chose to
receive XP in.

*Note – If you exchange points at 100 a time, you

will receive an extra 10% XP!

Afterword
I hope that you all enjoy this guide. It took me
many hours and I hope you can learn much from it
and use it towards your advantage. I look forward
to getting together at Pest Control with you all
one day. And yes, I wrote it myself. ;)

Peace,
