The TZCS-1013 Course CD—Copyright status of included files.

Page 1

This CD is prepared as a part of the BA and Bible and Theology for students
enrolled at Assemblies of God Bible College, Dodoma, Tanzania. It was
originally prepared in June, 2006, though some changes may have been made
for students taking the same course at a later time. All items on the CD were
free to download and are believed to be freely available for this educational
purpose, even if some of them are copyrighted. If you make some other use of
this CD, the copyrights might be violated. Please check the individual
copyrights before using them for any purpose other than your own individual
study or making copies for use in an educational context. Some of the “free”
items on the CD are restricted in that they must be free to the next user as
well. That is, they are free to be used and copied as part of and for the
intended purpose of this CD, but you may not charge anyone for
copies of this CD or any part of it.
The following outline gives more specific information about the materials
included and their copyright status.
1. The “Small Digital Library” Directory
a. Bibles subdirectory
i. The Apostolic-Bible-Greek-Interlinear is copyrighted
material offered free for downloading, and downloaded in
June 2006 from http://Septuagint-Interlinear-Greek-
Bible.com . The authors are making the PDF files
available freely via the internet but hope to sell either a
CD with additional features or a hard-copy printed
version of this Bible to cover their costs. You should
check the copyright notices at the above website before
using these files for any purpose other than your personal
study.
ii. KJV-Bible.chm and Swahili-NT.chm are freely available
from http://Johnhurt.com . These may be copied for
others as well as long as you don’t charge a fee. See the
website for more information and other Bible resources
available there.
iii. The NET Bible was downloaded in June 2006 from
http://www.bible.org/page.asp?page_id=3086 . As of
this writing it is intended to be free and is available in
various formats, three of which have been included in
different versions of this CD. The current format is .chm
(compiled help format). The material is copyrighted but
the current CD falls within permissions granted on the
website. Check that site before using for any other
purpose.
b. Creeds – The Creeds are all in the public domain and can be
downloaded from various places on the Internet, among them
http://www.reformed.org/ .
c. Discovery Series Texts – These are the textbooks used for
various diploma-level courses at Assemblies of God Bible
Schools around the world. Copyrights are held by Gospel

Publishing House and Africa Theological Training Service.

These are included on this CD by permission, and users should
ask permission before using for any other purpose.
d. Items in the ebooks directory are public domain materials
downloaded from http://gutenberg.net or non-restricted
materials downloaded from
http://www.ntslibrary.com/PDF%20Books.htm . Both are
excellent sources of additional material not included on this CD.
PLEASE NOTE: The “Northwest Theological Seminary” to which
the NTSLibrary site connects is not accredited or recognized
outside their own “denomination” which was started by the
same man. Much of their online library material is good and
comes from early church fathers; some of it comes from authors
who do not agree with our statement of faith, and some even
comes from authors who are anti-Christian. Like any library
that grows beyond a few volumes, and like the internet itself, it
has sources you can trust and sources you can’t trust. Use it
wisely and carefully!
e. English-Swahili and Swahili-English Dictionaries are adapted
from text files downloaded in 2005 from the Yale University
African Languages website: http://www.yale.edu/swahili/ . The
files are copyrighted but free and freely distributable per the
terms under which they were downloaded at that time.
However, that project may be gone by the time you read this; as
of this writing, the project was suspended due to lack of funds
but the website was still there.
f. The Greek Lexicon and Texts directory makes use of public
domain and expired-copyright materials downloaded from
http://www.textkit.com/new-testament-greek.php .
g. The Journals directory consists of materials from various
Assemblies of God entities, most notably Encounter: Journal
for Pentecostal Ministry which is a scholarly publication
of the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS),
an online publication offered without charge as a service
of the AGTS community. See http://agts.edu and
http://www.encounterjournal.com .
h. Missions Resources are courtesy of Africa Theological Training
Service and MANI. The MANI materials are described in the
help file:
Permission is granted for any non-profit reproduction of the contents of the MANI
CD in whole or in part, for distribution within Africa, provided the source of the
material is properly acknowledged and the content itself is not altered. Contents of
the MANI CD have been provided by the following organizations: Joshua Project,
Operation World, Global Mapping International, and Inserv (please see contact
information above). The CD was produced by MANI - the Movement for African
National Initiatives (email: network.mani@gmail.com) in February, 2006.

i. Other Helps. The World Factbook is updated annually and

freely downloadable from

http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/ . The
www.raystedman.org and www.bible-researcher.com directories
contain a snapshot of useful portions of those websites
“mirrored” to this CD in June, 2006. The Ray Stedman website
expressly exists to promote wide dissemination of the available
materials “free of charge for personal use.” The Bible
Researcher website is copyrighted by Michael Marlowe but his
copyright page expressly allows copying for educational use.
2. The Modules directory is original material.
3. The Options to Install directory consists of some software that is
freeware, with no copyright issues, and some that is copyrighted but
freely usable (such as the Adobe Acrobat Reader or the E-Sword add-
ons). No commercial software or software that would ordinarily have
to be purchased has been included on this CD.
4. The Tutorials directory includes captive (mirrored) tutorials linked
from the syllabus via the Start_here.html page. From that page the
same material can also be accessed via the internet. Since this CD has a
purpose very much in keeping with the educational purpose of those
sites, it is hoped that the owners of those materials would be more
pleased than otherwise to have them included here. Whether or not
that is the case, the tutorials used are all advertised as free and have no
copyright notices attached.
