Mechatronics Definition:

Mechatronics is an interdisciplinary area of engineering that combines mechanical and electrical engineering and computer science. A typical mechatronic system picks up signals from the environment, processes them to generate output signals, transforming them for example into forces, motions and actions. It is the extension and the completion of mechanical systems with sensors and microcomputers which is the most important aspect. The fact that such a system picks up changes in its environment by sensors, and reacts to their signals using the appropriate information processing, makes it different from conventional machines. Examples of mechatronic systems are robots, digitally controlled combustion engines, machine tools with self-adaptive tools, contact-free magnetic bearings, automated guided vehicles, etc. Typical for such a product is the high amount of system knowledge and software that is necessary for its design. Furthermore, and this is most essential, software has become an integral part of the product itself, necessary for its function and operation. It is fully justified to say software has become an actual "machine element".

Washing machine is a mechatronic product because it consists of mechanical, electrical, electronic parts. Sensor and IT components might found as well.

1- Mechanical parts: Mechanical parts: such as gears, bearings, pulley and belt and the motor.

2- Electrical parts :

Motor of the washing machine: The motor is coupled to the agitator or the disc and produces it rotator motion. These are multi speed motors, whose speed can be changed as per the

requirement. In the fully automatic washing machine the speed of the motor i.e. the agitator changes automatically as per the load on the washing machine.

There are also plenty of fuses wires and transformer. Also we find timer that helps setting the wash time for the clothes manually. In the automatic mode the time is set automatically depending upon the number of clothes inside the washing machine.

3- electronic parts: Printed circuit board (PCB): The PCB comprises of the various electronic components and circuits, which are programmed to perform in unique ways depending on the load conditions (the condition and the amount of clothes loaded in the washing machine). They are sort of artificial intelligence devices that sense the various external conditions and take the decisions accordingly. These are also called as fuzzy logic systems. Thus the PCB will calculate the total weight of the clothes, and find out the quantity of water and detergent required, and the total time required for washing the clothes. Then they will decide the time required for washing and rinsing.

Sensors: temperature sensor, water level and optical sensor. IT components: control monitor to help selecting programs and to set time and temperature.

Task 1 P2
Here I will show how the washing machine work as a mechatronic system involving the integration process between the components: 1) Water inlet control valve: Near the water inlet point of the washing there is water inlet control valve. When you load the clothes in washing machine, this valve gets opened automatically and it closes automatically depending on the total quantity of the water required. The water control valve is actually the solenoid valve. 2) Water pump: The water pump circulates water through the washing machine. It works in two directions, re-circulating the water during wash cycle and draining the water during the spin cycle. 3) Tub: There are two types of tubs in the washing washing machine: inner and outer. The clothes are loaded in the inner tub, where the clothes are washed, rinsed and dried. The inner tub has small holes for draining the water. The external tub covers theinner tub and supports it during various cycles of clothes washing. 4) Agitator or rotating disc: The agitator is located inside the tub of the washing machine. It is the important part of the washing machine that actually performs the cleaning operation of the clothes. During the wash cycle the agitator rotates continuously and produces strong rotating currents within the water due to which the clothes also rotate inside the tub. The rotation of the clothes within water containing the detergent enables the removal of the dirt particles from the fabric of the clothes. Thus the agitator produces most important function of rubbing the clothes with each other as well as with water. In some washing machines, instead of the long agitator, there is a disc that contains blades on its upper side. The rotation of the disc and the blades produce strong currents within the water and the rubbing of clothes that helps in removing the dirt from clothes. 5) Motor of the washing machine: The motor is coupled to the agitator or the disc and produces it rotator motion. These are multispeed motors, whose speed can be changed as per the

requirement. In the fully automatic washing machine the speed of the motor i.e. the agitator changes automatically as per the load on the washing machine. 6) Timer: The timer helps setting the wash time for the clothes manually. In the automatic mode the time is set automatically depending upon the number of clothes inside the washing machine. 7) Printed circuit board (PCB): The PCB comprises of the various electronic components and circuits, which are programmed to perform in unique ways depending on the load conditions (the condition and the amount of clothes loaded in the washing machine). 8) Drain pipe: The drain pipe enables removing the dirty water from the washing that has been used for the washing purpose

CONCLUSION
The advanced mechatronic product design approach enables the development of modern, technically and economically competitive products. With the science and technology evolution this approach becomes not only present in official standards and guidelines, but also more and more implemented in the daily industrial environment and education. Nowadays even normal white goods products such as washing machines can be treated as mechatronic products, because of the unavoidable integration of mechanical components with electronics and IT tools. Based on the clearly defined end product requirements and related functionality, it is necessary first to define mechanical parts with respect to the fundamental laws of mechanics. In other words, it is necessary to form such a mechanical/mathematical model of mechatronic systems, which can easily be parametrically analyzed and optimized. From the practical example of washing machines, this is made upon the mathematical model of multi-body systems and related systems' stability as well as frequency response. Upon this parametric analysis of mechanic systems, there is an easier and more transparent way to integrate electronics (sensors, actuators) and related IT with control software program. In other words, even simple products are not any more to be underestimated and, with the presence of integration electronics and IT, higher demands are set for product designers.

Task 1 P3
To improve the washing machine some mechatronic systems and devices can be added: 1- more capacity for sensors and faster response to the circuit 2- more powerful motors can be added using advanced technology

3- Installing a hard drive to save load, weight and speed to next time use. 4- Using smart sensor that can permit stop the process just got the requirements done.

Task 1 P4

New Washing Machine

New Washing Machine device automatically starts to pour water, add washing powder, spin and wash clothes, and disposal of waste water, etc. After the completion of all procedures, machine stops the process. Fully automatic washing machine only requires the user to enter the appropriate action to complete the entire washing process, and therefore this provides a lot of time for users.

Advantages of new washing machines (applying Mechatronics approaches) 1- Full control of the functions of the operating system by computer 2- The level of water maintained automatically to suit the amount of washing 3- Sophisticated design of the fan to prevent the complexity of clothes during washing 4- Suit washing can clean after each use by clicking on the button 5- Disconnect the power cord is for automatic washing machine after 15 seconds from the end of the wash cycle 6- Full protection of children where the issuance of distinctive sound alarm 7- Protection not open the lid during operation
