Machiavelli
The first thing we have to understand about Machiavelli is that his philosophy is not a exactly a philosophy but an understanding of how politics should be applied. His works are about understanding and giving advice on political forms, on ruling the people and of why people with power act the way they do. So you can say that Machiavellis so called philosophy is mostly is conformed of what Maurizio Violdi (1998) would like to call spiritual narrowness referring to his insensitivity that surrounds his philosophy or political ideas. This guy says that mostly people put him as a power obsessed politician and thats why they mostly look at His insensitivity to any spiritual movement that is not subordinate to a purely political idea; no serious religious or moral anxiety, no sincere concern for the meaning of life; only a passion for politics and for the study of political events and actions (Viroli, 1998) Meaning that even though his works are focused primarily on politics and ruling, he has also his own ideas of life, death and such interestingly enough they have a likeness to his primary ideas and thats why Machiavelli turns really interesting. You see even though Machiavelli was in favor of doing things that will benefit more people than just one person, he also was against unnecessary war, and he describes it

as the outcome of ambition, and as cruel, inhuman horrible sufferance 1 not as a way of solving troubles. He believes ambition as the source of all troubles, thats why he also talks about a stable government. But even though all this for Machiavelli, man is alone and hopeless in this world, even if god (he did believe in god) was there and helped, man is by itself doomed to be unhappy, just because it is in our nature. In this point he mentions that man is not the master of all universe but the victim of nature first and fortune afterwards for a person that has such a bad opinion of human themselves, thinking that is in human nature to desire and have ambitions, it is strange how he still regards people above all species, I said that it was weird of him because he says no animal can found that has a frailer life(than man) and no other animal is capable of so much cruelty; only men slay crucify and plunger other men and spite of this he believed that men have capacity to gain control over themselves and rule the world. 2 We can see that this man, this philosopher is a man of many ideas and that he in his mind had a concrete standing of how men were divided and how they themselves were standing in comparison to the rest of the world, because he believed in this, he also believed that man could achieve great things if the right actions were taken. These actions or things a person must do is completely necessary by Machiavellis thoughts, he says that a man must act a certain way to become a ruler and that if he is not like that he should become like that, but well just like even tough Machiavelli is known by his ironic sense of humor that is displayed through his plays we can also find his profound

He mentions his thoughts about war in various poems such as of the blessed spirits Machiavelli expresses his beliefs on the human condition in poems such as the golden ass which the original version is a greek novel.

respect (or ideas) that a man must put live by his honor and must live by justice unless his security is at stake, and if that is the case he may recover it by doing good deeds. He believed in everyone doing their work as they should, and can give many examples in his most famous book The Prince3, in which we can find his true so called philosophy, and how man should act. So you may think that Machiavelli is only a person with a view in how humans should act but be aware that all his ideas are formed through a view of society as a whole and how each of us contribute to it. So Machiavellis belief although confusing refers to man as a part of a working society which in man alone is weak but together can form something, a something that cannot be without a ruler. This is why the government, and a leader that governs this government, is necessary. And with this you can see in all his works all of his ideas for this working society and how it is necessary to have control over it so it becomes stable. So now we can see why he wrote what he did.

Book he made while being in exile, which he was put by the Medici family.
