Affirmative Prayer Soup in Five Steps

Using affirmative prayer is like making soup. There are some ingredients you add from time to time,
and some that you just have to have in order to cook up something tasty. There are lots of different
recipes, and different techniques, but one way or another, we’re all making soup. The recipe that follows
is just one way to make a great pot of prayer soup!

A Qualitative Approach To Affirmative Prayer

What do you want? This is the first thing to decide. In order for the Universal Intelligence of life to
know how to flow through you, it has to know what you want. It cannot know until you do!
Spend plenty of time getting clear about precisely what it is that you desire.
Resolve things into thought. Think about your desire. What are the qualities of what you desire? In
other words, if your desire was already fulfilled, how would you feel? How would you be? For the
Law to work for you most effectively, you need to know what's behind the thing. Why resolve
things into thought? Because while you might only see one way for your desire to be created, the
Universal Intelligence sees many more options.

The Process of Prayer

Remind yourself of the nature of the universe. Before going further, get clear on your
understanding of the nature of the Universe. If you used to believe in an angry, vengeful,
absentee-landlord type of God, now is the time to remind yourself of the greater Truth. Remind
yourself of the lawful and loving nature of the Universal Intelligence.
Remind yourself that you come from god. If the Universe is the source of all good, but you still feel
as though you’re on the outside looking in, you won’t get far. Remind yourself that god is the
source and the creator of everything. Including you. Including your desire.
Realize that life already is the experience you desire. If you can desire it, it must exist in
potential. Otherwise, where did you get the idea? Remember that the first premise of Religious
Science is that there exists a fundamental Unity. There's no place other than this field of potential
for your desire to come from. At this stage, you’re going for an inner feeling of YES! You’re
working towards a realization that your desire is already yours. When you open your eyes, it may
not be sitting on the floor in front of you; don't be fooled...Mind is already at work unfolding it
from the field of infinite potential.
If doubts arise…do not turn away. Face them! Speak the truth about what you are fearing will or
will not happen. Affirm your ability to co-create. Refuse to give the fear any power; acknowledge
its presence, deny its ability to impede your good, and affirm the truth.
Give thanks for the blessings you have received in mind. It is important to give thanks in
affirmative prayer, because it acknowledges already having received your desire. This is the
"already having received" attitude that adds fuel to the fire of your prayer. This is why you have
to know how you would feel if you had what you want right now.
Let go. Letting go is a crucial step. When you're done, your mind should be at peace, clear, unafraid,
and watchful for signs of your desire showing up without becoming obsessive about it! LET the
Law work through you and make your desire a physical reality!

Affirmative Prayer Soup in Five Steps
Simple, straightforward, and timeless, this method of healing is adapted from the one that
Jesus of Nazareth used. It’s the Perennial Philosophy. And it works.

Step I: Recognition: God Is

There is only One Life, One Presence, One Power, One Spirit, Infinite Good, Absolute Intelligence,
Eternal Love, Immutable Law. This Power, by whatever name I call it, is all that is. It is Omnipresent,
Omnipotent, and Omniscient. Every form that arises is some manifestation of this One. All that Is is
god; there is no other activity but this One activity of Spirit taking form as something wonderful. God is
in, through, and as all people, places, and things.

Step II: Unification: I Am

I am One with God. Perfect Life is everywhere present, and so right where I am in mind and in
experience, this Perfect Truth is. Since God is truly infinite, then no matter what is happening or how I
am thinking about God or myself, I must be immersed in this Divine Presence. All that I am is God; I
am an individualized expression of this One Perfect Life. My life and all it contains is the unique
expression of God taking form as my life. There is not now, nor has there ever been, nor will there ever
be any separation between what I am and what God is. Since all that I Am is God, and God is Infinite
Possibility, that possibility rests within me in this very moment. God cannot and does not withhold my
Good. God longs to give me all that it has, all that it is.

Step III: Purpose/Realization: I Know or Declare

Whatever I need or think I need to experience and express my fullness, my Divine Nature, must be
already within me. I am already a perfect Spiritual Being having a human experience; the purpose of
this treatment is self-realization; realizing a more profound level of truth about myself. I am not
becoming anything - I am awakening to what is already so; God cannot become more God; an Infinity
cannot increase in its scope. It is already everything that is.
Ask yourself the following questions: What would I welcome in my life today? What must I realize
in order to claim my good? What must I surrender to accept that the nature of my being is pre-existent
perfection, harmony, peace, abundance, health, and love? Make short, direct, affirmative power
statements for the greatest leverage in your consciousness: “I am now free from dis-ease of any kind”

Step IV: Acceptance/Thanksgiving: I Accept and Give Thanks

I now accept that what is true for me is true for me NOW. My words, even as I speak, initiate a
powerful chain of causation that immediately transforms my experience. I accept that I can choose how
to experience this Allness of my Being. I accept what I have realized and declared to be true about
myself NOW. I give thanks for this new awareness that has already changed my experience of life and
myself.

Step V: Release: I Let Go

And so it is done. The spiritual laws of the Universe take it from here; I am a knower, a chooser...a
decider. The nature of the Universe is to take my knowledge and transform it into form. This Universe,
being unlimited intelligence, knows exactly and perfectly how to do it. I release, and I let go, and let the
perfect Law of the Universe operate upon my realization of the truth about me. And so it is.
