Walk off the Wait, September 13 Hoomaluhia Botanical Gardens Join your Blue Star Card pals on our latest Walk off the Wait, a walking tour of Hoomaluhia Botanical Gardens, Tuesday, September 13. Situated on 400 sloping acres of former farmland in Windward Oahu, the rainforest garden sits at the foot of the Koolau mountains beneath the towering Pali Cliffs. Animoto, September 15 Sgt. Yano Library Interested in creating quick and easy videos to share with your Soldier or loved ones? Bring your digital photos (approximately 30-50 pictures) to Sgt. Yano Library on Thursday, September 15 at 10:00 am to learn how to use Animoto. (Although there is a free online version, we will be using the professional version for this class). Animoto allows people to make professional looking videos with images and music. Its a great way to make use of your digital photos! Spaces for this class are limited. Big R: Hale Koa Luau, September 26 Hale Koa Hotel Join your Blue Star Card friends on an amazing adventure through the islands of Polynesia to celebrate another month of deployment complete on Monday, September 26, from 4:00 9:30 pm at the Hale Koa Hotels Luau! Enjoy the splendor and spectacle of ancient traditions while participating in cultural demonstrations from around the Pacific. There will also be live Hawaiian music and an authentic imu ceremony. You will enjoy a bountiful feast that infuses both authentic Hawaiian and local favorites. This will be followed by the spectacular luau show hosted by Glen Medeiros. The Hale Koa Hotel is offering Blue Star Card holders a special rate for this show. Adult (18 & older) ticket prices are only $30 and all children (17 & younger) are FREE courtesy of the Fisher House and the Blue Star Card program! Ticket prices are not combinable with any other offer. Limited transportation will be provided from Schofield Barracks to the Hale Koa Hotel. Tickets for the show are limited! *You MUST reserve tickets through the Blue Star Card Program. Please DO NOT reserve your tickets through the Hale Koa Activities Office or through ITR for this particular show. Spouses of deployed Soldiers are eligible to sign up for a Blue Star Card, which will give you discounts at FMWR facilities, activities and special events. Your Blue Star Card will be valid throughout the entire deployment. To get your card, visit Army Community Service on Schofield Barracks or Fort Shafter.

As of October 1, Tropics Recreation Center will become a Warrior Zone, an 18 and up refuge for Soldiers to relax and unwind. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed inside its doors, even with adult supervision.

Parents Night Out will be held September 10 (AMR CDC and AMR Youth Center), September 24 (Schofield CDC and Schofield School Age Center). The Kids on Site care for the Health and Fitness center will remain free for valid Blue Star Card holders, Mon. - Fri., 8 - 11 am, at Kaala Community Activities Center, Bldg. 556. Registration is required. For more information please call 655-8628.
INGREDIENTS Crispy rice cereal treats Butter Fruit leather Plastic wrap Googly eyes Pipe cleaners DIRECTIONS 1. Whip up a batch of crispy rice cereal treats, using your favorite recipe. 2. Using buttery hands mold the rice mixture into worm shapes (ours are about 5 inches long). 3. Add three strips of fruit leather to each worm, securing the overlapping ends of each strip with a dot of water. 4. Wrap the worms in plastic wrap, then add two googly eyes. 5. Loop a pipe cleaner around the worms neck and twist it together at the top. Curl the ends into antennae.
