Read the book WITH your child. You

read the “regular” text, and he/she reads
the big, red words, sort of like reading
the different parts in a play.

A note about Book 10:

It is very important not to “rush” ahead –

for example, if a child is still struggling
to recognize the difference between a “d”
and a “b,” or if a child is still having
trouble with “blended” consonants,
then the child is not ready for this book.

Be patient and work with your child,

reading and re-reading the earlier
Progressive Phonics books. Some
children have the ability to learn to read
quickly; some children are talented in
other ways, and need lots and LOTS of
practice with reading.

Most important of all, MAKE IT FUN.

If reading becomes too much of a chore,
