1.Audience
The audience targeted by this document is operational support people, belonging to the GC-EUR.

2.Pre-requisites
2.1 Privileges
In order to be able to perform Citrix applications management, the administrative account you will
use, must be part of “EUR: CTXFarmAdmins”. Note that by default, the groups “EUR: DCAdmins”
and “EUR: ServerAdmins” are nested into “EUR: CTXFarmAdmins”.

2.2 Information needed

In order to be able to publish a Citrix application, some important information is required.
Therefore we have created a template that the requesting market has to fill properly and attach to
the Peregrine request ticket.
Here is the current version of the template:

"Request for Citrix

application publishing.dot"

Markets are aware of the process, as the GC-EUR Operational Service Catalogue has been
updated with that information.

3.Procedure
3.1 Creation of the AD controlling group, if needed
In the template filled by the market, check if the creation of the AD group is requested:

If it is, create the group in the proper OU (standard group creation process). Just make sure that
you create it on one of the regional datacentre domain controllers (usually DEMDCB02). Note that
you might have to wait for the new group to be replicated onto all RDC domain controllers, as Citrix
servers can pick any of the site domain controllers.

3.2 Publication of the application

We will use the following request as example for the procedure:

Log on to one of the two Citrix management servers: DEMDCT00 or DEFDCT00.

Go to Start – Programs – Citrix – Management Console:

The first time you start the console, you might get the following popup:

Select “Enable pass-through authentication”, “Connect to this server” and click on “OK”.

Once the console has started, expand the “Applications” tree in the left pane:

Locate the requesting market and expand the tree. In our case, it will be NPPE:

Right-click the market and select “Publish Application”:

Now, we will follow the wizard and complete the information with what is in the request.

The first screen is the application name and description (our standard is that the description is
always the same as the name):

The second screen is where we specify what to publish:

The third screen is the definition of the Program Neighbourhood settings. The PN folder is always
the same as the name of the market container:

Usually, we try to locate the proper application icon. In this case, we clicked on “Change Icon” and
located the exe file of the application:

The fourth screen is where we specify the appearance of the published application:

The fifth screen defines the ICA Client Requirements. The values shown here are the ones to be
set for any application:

The sixth screen can be used to set some limits on the published application, like number of
running instances throughout the farm, etc…:

The seventh screen is where we define from which server(s) the application is to be published (it is
the market’s responsibility to make sure that the binaries are identical and located at the same
location on all the specified servers). Select the server(s) on the left and click on “Add”:

The eighth screen is where we assign the published application to AD group(s). Click on “Add List
of Names…” and fill the popup (note that here, only pre-W2K group names must be used). Always
add EURCTXFarmAdmins, as Citrix admins must be able to access any application (for
troubleshooting purposes):

When finished, click on “Check Names” to validate the groups. If all goes well, you should get the
following message (if not, you might have to wait a bit for the AD replication to occur):

Then you will get the screen showing the groups:

The ninth and last screen is not used; you can skip it by clicking on “Finish”:

You can now resolve the request.
