Q 1. What was the initial problem that the bank management was trying to solve at syndicate bank? How well did it apply the four step of problem solving? Answer: we analyze the problem and there solution through four step process. 1. Intelligence (Problem Discovery): The Syndicate bank continuously growing company and they have more than 500 branches and ATMs nationwide and there is a problem to centralized all the branches and ATMs. 2. Design (Solution Discovery): They can decentralize there data base and then connect them through network so they can work like a single entity. They can create a centralized system so that they all will be operated from a centralized system. 3. Choice (Choosing solution): When they create the decentralize there system that time the problem occurred like duplication and inconsistency of data, lack of productivity. When they create centralize their database that is the best option for that they can centralize all their branch and ATMs they can provide more service to the customer through centralize system 4. Implementation: From the two solutions the better solution for the Bank is to create centralize their system its more effective and efficiency for their organization.

Q 2. What was the business case for implementing a new system? What were some of the tangible benefits? What were some of the intangible benefits? Answer: In this case Syndicate Bank has implemented the new system in their bank like automated solutions in phase strategically, centralized banking solution, computerized banking facility , telebanking and ATMs, web site etc. Intangible benefit Intangible benefited include the benefits which can not be measured physically. These benefits can be fast service to the costumers, duplication and inconsistency of data can be removed, Tangible benefits Syndicate Bank has obtain business per branch doubled to Rs. 400 million in 2006, gross profit per branch more than quadruple to Rs.6 million . Gross profit per employee increased from Rs.0.11 million to Rs. 0.39 million , Staff strength reduced from 27,105 to 25,817 over the last 4 years.

Q.3 Why didnt the implementation of the branch automated solution work out for Syndicate Bank? What were the biggest factors? How would you classify these factors in terms of organization, technology and people issue? Answer: Since 1965, Syndicate Bank has been adopting automated solutions in phase, strategically. Initially it began with data storage and up gradation of computerized facilities at its head office. Bank introduced computerized trading facilities and E-mail facilities to develop connectivity among core braches. But they were not running successfully. Bank also introduced telebanking and ATMs and opened its websites in 1997. Bank has problems in running these facilities. Only 228 were running on branch automation solution of which were 23 were running on solution from other 2 vendors.

Q. 4 Was central banking solution a better solution for Syndicate Bank? If so, why? What Factors suggest that bank ended with right approach and right choice of production? Answer: Yes central banking better solution of Syndicate Bank because bank having more than 500 branches and ATMs and they provide other branchs customer to access their account from any of the Syndicate bank so their customers need satisfy and they can provide better service to their customer. Through the central banking solution banks executive can easily access and use their different branchs transaction and their record and they can take decisions for their bank and handle easily compare to other banking solution.

Q.5 Based on this case study, what kind of organization do you thing would benefit from the cobol package? Give an example of such an organization and justify your choice? You may use the web to research your answer, including oracles web site. Answer: Using Oracles Web Site, the type of companies using cobol package are those which are normally more than one branches like banking sectors, Dena bank, Stock broking and etc which have more than one branches they can use the cobol package to connect their branches and work with each other.

Q.6 Could Syndicate Bank have made a better choice of software for its CBS system the first time around? Explain your answer. Answer: Yes, the choice of syndicate bank was a better for software for its CBS system. The CBS strategy targeted the banks main contact points with the banks functioning: duplication an inconsistency of data, lack of productivity and lack of single customer view of information. Because this system centralised banking system is help to give better services to the customer and very time consuming software. The tracking of customer leads to generating reports about customers was very expansive after making better choice of CBS software the bank would be able to capture larger volume of information about its customers there by, increasing its capacity to cross sell products and approve credit and loan application more quickly. It would also finally have a method for credit limit administration for companies at single place. Last conclude shows that the overall process of CBS software is very better choice for bank to reach to all customers very easily.
