PSALM 40

Blessings from God.

V I. ANTICIPATION. I waited patiently for the Lord. The psalmist was well acquainted with the love and mercy and chastisement of God. PSALM 37 v 3-5 ; Trust in the Lord and do good. So shall you dwell in the land and verily you shall be fed. Delight yourself also in the Lord and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way unto the Lord. trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. V 1. CONSOLATION. He inclined unto me and heard my cry. The psalmist was quickly consoled by God who answers the prayers of His children. PSALM 34 v 15 ; The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and His ears are open to their cry. What a joyous response should be ours as we confide in God and feel the love and peace of mind that He gives us. JOHN 14 v 27 ; Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you. Not as the world gives give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. V 2. RECONCILIATION. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay. When we feel trapped in our sin and its penalties descend upon us , we need to come to God in the name of Jesus and repent. Then we can know the love and compassion of God. PSALM 42 v 11 ; Why are you cast down 0 my soul and why are you disquieted within me Hope in God for I shall yet praise Him , who is the health of my countenance. PSALM 37 v 23-24 ; The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and He delights in His way. Though he fall he shall not be utterly cast down for the Lord upholds him with His hand. What a relief to know that we are in God's hands. V 2. FOUNDATION. And set my feet upon a rock. PSALM 62 v 5-7 ; My soul, wait only upon God, for my expectation is from Him. He only is my Rock and my Salvation. He is my defence, I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory, the rock of my strength and my refuge is in God. No foundation of sand here. Jesus Christ is our sure foundation for our salvation and eternal life with Him. V 2. SANCTIFICATION. And established my goings. This is the way, walk ye in it. Put your hand in the hand of God and walk with him . The hand of satan is evil and despair. JOHN 14 v 6. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but by Me. PROVERBS 4 v 20-22 ; My son, attend to My words, incline your ear to My sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them and health to all their flesh The way of God is separation from all evil and a clinging to the word of God in obedience to it's directions. V 5. REVELATION. And has put a new song in my mouth. PSALM 47 v 6-7 ; Sing praises to God, sing praises unto our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth, sing praises with understanding. Gone are the songs of the ungodly, now replaced by hymns of praise. V 3. ADORATION. Even praises to our God. PSALM 18 v 1-2 ; I will love you 0 Lord my strength The Lord is my Rock and my fortress, and my deliverer, my God my strength in whom I will trust. My buckler and the horn of my salvation and my high tower. It is right and proper that we should worship God Himself and none other.

V 3. MANIFESTATION. Many shall see it and fear, and shall trust in the Lord. If the love of God is deep in my soul , other people we see that I walk with God and will want that which I say I have. PSALM 43 v 3-4 ; 0 send out your light and your truth let them lead me, let them bring me into Your holy Tabernacle. Then will I go unto the altar of God and unto God my exceeding joy. Yes upon the harp I will praise You 0 God my God. V 4. PROCLAMATION. Blessed is that man that makes the Lord his trust and respects not the proud nor such as turn aside to lies. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so. Let us rejoice in the victory Christ made on our behalf. PSALM 32 v 1-2 ; Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven . Blessed is the man to whom the Lord imputes not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. V 5. REVELATION. Many 0 Lord my God are the Your wonderful works which You have done. As a man turns from his ungodly ways and studies the word of God, the greater will be his revelation of the Godhead PSALM 62 v 5-7 ; My soul, await you only upon God for my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation. He is my defence I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory, the rock of my salvation He is my defence I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory, the rock of my strength and my refuge is in God. V 5. CONVICTION. If I would declare and speak of them they are more than can be numbered PSALM 107 v 15 ; 0 that men would praise the Lord for His goodness and for His wonderful works to the children of men. PSALM 145 v 18-19 ; The Lord is nigh to all them that call upon Him. To all that call upon Him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear Him. He also will hear their cry and will save them. V 6. MEDITATION. Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, my ears have You opened. The more we meditate upon the word of God the greater will be our awe of His greatness and power. Let us worship Him and daily walk with Him. PSALM 35 v 27-28 ; Let them shout for joy and be glad, that favour My righteous cause, yes let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant, and my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness and of Your praise all the day long. PSALM 36 v 17-19 ; The righteous cry and the Lord hears and delivers them out of their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart and saves such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him out of them all. There is much wonderful news to meditate upon in the word of God. V 7. IDENTIFICATION. Lo I come, in the volume of the book it is written of Me. Christ the obedient servant who came to fulfil the Scriptures in the will of God. What are we doing in the "will of God ' and for His glory.? JOHN 3 v 16-17 ; For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved. JOHN 5 v 30 ; I can of My own self do nothing, as I hear I judge and My judgement is just. because I seek not My own will but the will of the Father which has sent me. Just as Jesus shed His life's blood to redeem the repentant sinner, so He asks us to give ourselves over to Him and follow His lifestyle, giving praise to God for His compassion and mercy and blessings. V 8. DEDICATION. I delight to do Your will 0 my God, Yes Your law is within my heart. God is firm in His desire that we should worship Him as the only true God, and no other.

MARK 12 v 30-31 ; And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. And the second is like unto it. You shall love your neighbour as yourself. V 9. DECLARATION. 1 have preached righteousness in the great. congregation, lo, I have not refrained my lips, 0 Lord You know. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so. PSALM 50 v 23 ; Whose offers praise glorifies Me, and to him who orders his conversation aright will I show the salvation of God. PSALM 63 v 3-4 ; Because Your loving kindness is better than life my lips shall praise You. Thus will I bless You while I live. I will lift up my hands in Your name. PSALM 34 v 3 ; 0 magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. PSALM 105 v 1-3 ; 0 give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His name. make known His deeds among the people. Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him, talk you of all His wondrous works. Glory you in His holy name, let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Jesus died and rose again that we might be reconciled to God and have peace of mind and eternal life with the Godhead. V 10. DETERMINATION. I have not hid Your righteousness within my heart. I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation , I have not concealed Your loving kindness and Your truth from the great congregation. Christ's followers were determined to be His faithful disciples and to declare His name and majesty and His resurrection. We have the commission to go forth and preach the Gospel and see the ungodly brought into the family of God Considering the satanic powers surrounding us we have to show some determination to stay close to God. Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. PSALM 62 v 5-6 ; My soul, wait only upon God for my expectation is from Him. He only is my Rock and my salvation. He is my defence, I shall not be moved. V 11. PROVISION. Withhold not Your tender mercies from me , 0 Lord let Your loving kindness and your truth continually preserve me. As God provided for Israel in the wilderness so He provided for His children today. 2 CORINTHIANS 1 v 3-4 ; Blessed be God even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. Who can comfort us in all tribulation that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. If we have sufficient faith in God, He will be our abundant provider. LUKE 6 v 38 ; Give and it shall be given to you, good measure pressed down and shaken together and running over shall men give unto your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete withal, it shall be measured to you again. As we give to God He gives to us. V 12. DESPERATION. For innumerable evils have compassed me about , my iniquities have taken hold of. me so that I am not able to look up. In a backslidden state we cannot lift up our hands in praise and worship and we seek to hide from God. In Psalm 52 is a gentle reminder that we can get Gods forgiveness if we are genuinely repentant . Have mercy upon me 0 God, according to Your loving kindness, according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity cleanse Me from. my sin. V 13. RECONCILIATION. Be pleased 0 Lord to deliver me, 0 Lord make haste to help me. PSALM 103 v 8-10, vl2 . The Lord :merciful and gracious, slow to anger and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide, neither will He keep His anger for ever. He has not dealt with us after our sins nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. As far as the East is from the West so far has He removed our sins from us. 2 CHRONICLES 7 v 14 . If My people which are called by my name will humble themselves and pray

and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Reconciliation with God is a wonderful and very necessary thing. 2 CORINTHIANS 5 v 18 ; And all things are of God who has reconciled us to Himself, by Jesus Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. V 14. SITUATION. Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul to destroy it. Let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil. Let those ungodly people who mock us in our religion be dealt with by God Himself. ROMANS I v 21 ; Because that when they knew God they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful but became vain in their imaginations and their foolish heart was darkened. God will deal with those who seek to draw us away from Him. God heard and answered king David's prayer Psalm 51, and showed him mercy and forgiveness and protection from his enemies. V 15. SEPARATION. Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say to me, aha, aha, God's plan of action has already been shown. JOHN 5 v 28-29 ; Marvel not at this for the hour is coming in the which all that are in the graves shall hear His voice. And shall come forth, they that have done good unto the resurrection of life and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. God will finally separate the saved from the unsaved at the rapture of Christ's church. Meanwhile we should make a determined effort to make a strong stand for Jesus and worship almighty God. V 16. INVITATION. Let all those that seek You rejoice and be glad in You. Let such as love Your salvation say continually, the Lord be magnified. What great rejoicing there will be in heaven when we see Jesus and the heavenly Father. There will be a tremendous chorus of praise and worship from the multitude of saved people. REVELATION 7 v 9-10 ; And after this I beheld and lo, a great multitude which no man could number and of all nations and kindreds and peoples and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb clothed with white robes and palms in their hands. And cried with a loud voice saying, salvation to our God, which sits upon the throne and unto the Lamb. ACTS 4 v 12 ; Neither is there salvation in any other for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. V 17. SALVATION. You are my help and deliverer, make no tarrying 0 my God. PSALM 43 v 1-4 ; Judge me 0 God and plead my cause against an ungodly nation. 0 deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man . For You are the God of my strength, why do You cast me off, why do I go mourning because of the depression of the enemy. 0 send out Your light and Your truth. let them lead me. let them bring me unto Your holy hill, and to Your tabernacles. Then will go to the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy. Yes upon the harp will I praise you 0 God, my God. What greater gift can God give to those who truly repent and seek forgiveness through the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm not ashamed to own my Lord, or to defend His cause Maintain the honour of His word, The glory of His Cross.
