Manila hotel
One Rizal Park
Manila, CA 95521 Philippines
Built in 1912, this magnificent hotel boasts a guest list peppered with the
names of famous people. It served as the residence of that World War II
charismatic figure, General Douglas MacArthur. The MacArthur suite remains
largely unchanged, as does most of the old wing. Canopied beds, wide
corridors, muted carpeting and old-fashioned textured walls create a strong
sense of history. The spacious reception area with its grand columns and
chandeliers has been called one of the world's most beautiful hotel lobbies.
PAN PACIFIC MANILA
Opened in the late 70s and undergoing room renovations every alternate year
since 1988, this ANA (All Nippon Airways) hotel is largely patronized by the
Japanese. Located directly behind the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Central
Bank of the Philippines) and a short block from Roxas Boulevard, the property
stands midway between the Makati financial district and the Intramuros tourist
area. The lobby and reception area project a business-like setting, but the
atmosphere is laid back and leisurely at the atrium.
THE PEARL MANILA HOTEL
