Life is like a river Yosuke

Have you ever though that your life flows like a river? In this poem "My life is like a river" the poet used a river to represent the moods of his life. The poetic devices used in this poem are simile, personification, imagery, assonance and metaphor. The moods in this poem are calm and hardship. The message the poet wants us to realize that life is like a river with difficulties and you need to ride them out. The poet gave the message out by showing different parts of his life. The poet is trying to show two distinct moods in this poem. First he starts by creating a calm and slow mood in the first stanza, and it transforms in to a hardship mood in the second stanza. Sometimes flowing lightly and gently. Moving along with ease". The poet is trying to say that
sometimes life goes smoothly without trouble. The hardship mood is Sometimes rough and rapid. Longing for some release. Trying to calm the storm It returns in to the calm and slow mood after

the second stanza but there is a mixture of hardship mood inside the other stanzas. Finally the poet repeats "My life is like a river" to give a message a strong impression. Waiting for
the sun to shine overhead. Looking for the rainbow in the sky." The poet is trying to say sometimes life gets hard and tuff but I will overcome the difficulties in life. I am waiting for a good chance to change my life for the better and wishing for my dream to come true.The calm mood is "Sometimes flowing lightly and gently. Moving along with ease". The poet is trying to say that sometimes life goes smoothly without trouble. The hardship mood is Sometimes rough and rapid. Longing for some release. Trying to calm the storm. Waiting for the sun to shine overhead. Looking for the rainbow in the sky." The poet is trying to say sometimes life gets hard and tuff but I will overcome the difficulties in life. I am waiting for a good chance to change my life for the better and wishing for my dream to come true.

There are 5 five types of poetic devices used in this poem. The four essential poetic devices are simile, personification, assonance and imagery. The simile is repeated in all of the stanzas. "Life is like a river" is a message he wants us to clearly feel. The poet is comparing a river to his life. a sea. In the first stanza I can imagine the river flowing steadily and calmly, but in stanza two I can feel the river flowing really fast and furious, similar to different points in someones life. . The poet also used personification to "Looking for some release. Looking for the rainbow in the sky". Lastly, the poet used assonance to stress the point he is trying to make. Also the poet used imagery to show his feelings and what he's thinking. "I like the gentle
bends. I like the smooth waters. They bring me peace and joy." The poet is saying that I like and want a calm and peaceful life; I don't like troubles and hard ship in my life. Also the poet used a four line structure and each stanza putting My life is like a river" at the beginning of the stanza. Each stanza has a different mood in it to show the different parts of his life. The poet used these poetic devices to share his ideas to the readers. He also used the two moods and mixed it with the poetic devices to make the poem "My life is like a river" to show that life like a river with hardship and you need to overcome it.
