sa vidya ya vimuktaya
This forms a part of a verse appearing in Vishnu-Purana (1.19.41)
The whole verse reads as follows :
The rigorous training that the students receive in this carefully designed course
will enable them to handle real world challenges in many key areas such as
Telecommunications, Bioinformatics and Information Technology. The
organizations and industries in need of such trained people will find our students
to be well suited to their requirements.
I wish the M.Tech (CT) students all the best in their career.
Sincerely yours
Dear Recruiter,
Our faculty members are experts in the areas they teach. Not only do they
provide a solid grounding in the academic theories and concepts of their speciality,
they also provide the students with insight into the practical issue and challenges
currently facing their discipline. They provide our students the right balance of
theory and practice.
We are confident that these young men and women would be an asset to
your organization through their technical and managerial capabilities and their
talent for innovation. Our aim is to actively assist you in attracting and identifying
the individuals best suited to your needs and in developing a successful
recruitment relationship.

The School of Physics has been carrying out international quality of research
and teaching in frontier areas of Physics since its inception in 1977. It offers the
following programmes of study :
M.Tech in Computational Techniques * M.Tech in IC Technology
Ph.D Master of Science in Physics
To cater to the rapidly growing need for personnel with high quality training
and expertise in Physics, the School of Physics, University of Hyderabad offers several
undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes. The presence of numerous
distinguished scientists in the faculty, innovative teaching methods, continuous
assessment of the students performance, free and easy access to computing facilities,
ideal student-teacher ratios, etc. have resulted in a five star rating of the school by
NAAC in 2001.
The School has achieved national and international recognition in the areas
of solid state physics, quantum optics, laser physics, high energy physics and materials
science. The School has been selected by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to
strengthen its teaching and research programmes through the Special Assistance Programme
(SAP) and COSIST and the Department of Science and Technology (DST) has provided
its support under the FIST program. The school is also one of the nine national centers of
the Theoretical Physics Seminar Circuit (TPSC) supported by the DST.
* This is an inter disciplinary course jointly offered by the school of Physics and Department of Com-
puter and Information Sciences.
The Department of Computer and Information Sciences offers high quality
post-graduate teaching and research programmes. The current research areas include
Computer Networks and Distributed Processing, Database Management System,
Software Engineering, Computer and Network Security, Mobile Computing, Logic
Decision Support Systems, Enterprise Resource Planning, E-Commerce, Geographical
Information Systems, Data Warehousing and Data Mining, Bioinformatics, Artificial
Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cognition, Natural Language Processing and Text
Processing, Speech Processing, Image Processing, Pattern Recognition, Vision,
Parallel and Grid Computing. It offers the following programmes of study.
SEMESTER I
- Mathematical Techniques I (Introduction to Digital Signal Processing)
- Mathematical Techniques II (Vector Spaces and Group Theory)
- Numerical Techniques
- Computer Organization
- Programming Methodology (PERL, PROLOG)
- Computing Laboratory (MATLAB, FORTRAN)
SEMESTER II
- Monte Carlo Techniques and Molecular Dynamics
- Evolutionary Computing
- Dynamical Systems and Chaos
- Image Processing
- Algorithmics
- Data Structures and Programming in C
The students after completing the M.Tech (C.T) course are expected to be
well equipped with different computational techniques applicable in different areas of
Physics, Computer Science and other related sciences. This is a 4-semester course
with last two semesters wholly dedicated for Project-work. The students are
selected through a nation wide entrance test followed by an interview.
In Due Course the Students are trained to acquire state of art Computational
Skills in various programming languages such as MATLAB, C/C++, FORTRAN, etc.
