BEFORE YOU START

Single DIN is the standard size of many radio head units, and is 2 high by 7 wide. Double-DIN is another standard size and is 4 high by 7 wide. The Infill T3 can fit in either one Double-DIN slot or two single-DIN slots (provided they are less than 4 inches apart). If neither of those options is available, you will need to go to an install shop for assistance. If you have a lone single-DIN slot there are adapters that will convert it to a double-DIN slot. See an install shop for assistance. This guide offers very general removal and installation instructions for the Infill T3 head unit. The particular installation procedures will vary from car to car. In addition to your Infill T3 and the bundled accessories, you may also need a vehicle specific wiring harness, a vehicle specific antenna adapter, and a vehicle specific mounting kit. For more information including car-specific removal guides and links to retailers who can offer vehicle specific wiring adapters and mounting kits, please visit http://www.streetdeck.com/support.php Before you start, become familiar with the following diagram and be sure to read through this entire guide at least once to become familiar with the entire installation process. Also, set the parking brake and disconnect the negative cable from your cars battery to prevent a short circuit before working on your car.

WIRING OVERVIEW DIAGRAM

The blue lines indicate connections from the Infill T3 to devices built into your car. The dark grey lines indicate connections to accessories that can be hooked up to the Infill T3 to provide additional functionality. The yellow lines indicate the connection to your speakers. Note, only 1 of the 2 yellow lines should be used in any install, depending on if you are using the Infill T3s built in amplifier or an external one.

PREPARING YOUR INFILL T3 FOR INSTALLATION

Because the Infill T3 ships as two separate single DIN units, you must first connect the bottom unit to the top unit before installing it in your car. To make the two units function as one, you must connect 2 front audio, 2 rear audio, 2 line-in audio, 1 TV video, and 1 display connector (8 wires total from the top unit to the bottom unit. Please consult the TOP (MONITOR) UNIT WIRES section for a more detailed description of the wires. The additional wires that remain unconnected on the top and bottom units are used to hook up the various accessories available for the Infill T3.

REMOVE YOUR EXISTING STEREO

The head unit removal process can vary depending on the make and model of your car. Some are equipped with spring clip mounts and will require special DIN tools to remove them, others will force you to remove surrounding trimpanels to access screws holding the head unit in place. In either case, do not force the head unit out without known exactly what is holding it in place. Once the head unit is removed, there will be one or more bundles of wires plugged into the back of the head unit that each meet at a large plug that is attached to your head unit. This wire bundle is called a harness and connects the stereo to your vehicles electrical system and speakers.

WIRING UP THE INFILL T3 HARNESS

Although you can splice the Infill T3 wiring harness directly into your vehicles wiring harness, it is recommended that you buy a specific adapter for your car that will plug into your cars harness and split the wires so they can be spliced into the wires on the Infills harness in the comfort of your home. In either case, youll need to identify each of the wires on your vehicles harness and match them up with the wires labeled on the Infill T3 harness. You can use the WIRE GUIDE section to identify the Infill wires by color. (Note: the wire colors on the Infill harness may or

may not match the colors on your vehicles harness, you should be sure of the wires function before connecting them together.) You can use
either crimp connectors or soldering to connect the bare wires of the harnesses together. Crimp connectors are faster and easier than soldering, but not as professional. If you do solder your connections, be sure to use heat shrink tubing around the connections as electrical tape can dry out and fall off with extended use in a harsh vehicle environment. In addition to the speaker and power connections found in all car stereo harnesses, your cars stereo harness may or may not have a wire for illumination (ILL), for the parking brake (HAND BRAKE), or for a power antenna (ANTENNA+). In such a case, you can leave the illumination wire disconnected and adjust the brightness of the Infill T3 manually by pressing and holding the Mode button on the T3 display for a second. If you dont have a power antenna wire in your stereo harness, it probably means you dont have a power antenna and you can leave the wire disconnected as it will not be needed. You will need to find and connect the HAND BRAKE wire to your parking brake circuits ground wire. This wire will allow you to use the T3s more advanced functions that are only available when parked. If you are installing the Infill T3 into a car with an after market amplifier, you should not connect the speaker connectors on the Infill harness, but rather leave them disconnected and connect the front, rear, and optionally center and sub RCA connectors on the bottom Infill unit directly to your amp.

INSTALLATION
After you have prepared the wiring harness for the Infill T3, you should now wire up all the accessories you are installing for your Infill T3. Unscrew and remove the plastic panel covering the pillars on either side of the windshield.

If installing the optional TV antenna, run the wires for it to the top corners of the windshield now. Attach each of the large central pieces to a corner, with the smaller arms stretching perpendicular to each other.

Run any additional wires to where they need to go: Video feed (Yellow RCA labeled BACK) to an optional rear-view camera, run under the carpet or through the pillar, tucked into the plastic rim around the top of the door, etc. Optional USB extensions to dashboard. GPS to top of dash or inside glove compartment. If using an amplifier, extend wires from the T3 to your amp.

Depending on what kind of car you are installing the Infill T3 in, you may need to remove mounting brackets from your old stereo and use them on the T3 or more then likely you will need a double DIN mounting kit that will include a trim ring and possibly a metal sleeve or other type of fastener to hold the head unit in place. Once the T3 is ready to be installed, hold it near the double DIN opening and connect all wires to the back of the unit, then slide the T3 into the dash opening, but dont fasten anything done yet.

After connecting everything to the T3, while it is still accessible, start your car, make sure the Infill starts up, and test that it is working. Make sure you can start StreetDeck, play a mp3 file or other audio source, test the radio, go into navigation and make sure you receive a GPS signal (you may have to pull your car outside the garage if you cant get a signal), if you installed the diversity antenna, you should test the TV, Test that the remote control works, the arrow buttons should change the focus of the selected button in StreetDeck. If you connected the ILL wire on the harness, turn on your headlights and make sure the display dims. Close StreetDeck and go to Windows, go to Start | Control Panel, choose Network Connections | Wireless Network Connection choose View Wireless Networks and see if you can connect to your home wireless network if setup. Make sure when you turn off your car the Infill turns off with it. Once you are sure there are no problems with your Infill T3, finish securing it and put back any trim panels or other pieces you needed to remove to install it.

WIRE GUIDE

The following pages will help you identify each of the wires on the back of the Infill T3 and what it should be plugged into.

Power adapter wires: Red: Connect to red 5 volt accessory wire. This wire will tell the T3 when the car is on so that it will turn on or wake up from sleep. Yellow: Connect to yellow +12 volt always on wire. This wire will provide most of the T3s power. Black: Connect to black ground wire, or the metal frame of the car.

Large black proprietary cable: Connects to the matching cable on the other unit. NOTE: This connection should be reinforced by wrapping the ends of the two connectors with electrical tape. If it becomes disconnected, it will render the T3 nonfunctional.
