INTRODUCTION 3rd Millennium has started with a boom in construction industry, specially the Highway Sector in India. Numbers of Mega projects are seen upcoming in the country connecting India into one compact unit. All important and high valued projects require extensive testing of the materials which is a pre-requisite for attaining high quality of the work. This shall require specialised tests, physical, chemical, ultrasonic, x-ray and various other types of tests which can not possibly be carried out in a site laboratory without adding high-costs on the project. These tests also require specialised personnel who are well trained for conducting the require tests in controlled environment. Therefore, the need arises for depending on the independent laboratories with facilities to conduct the tests as per IRC specifications and in controlled atmospheric conditions like temperature. Humidity etc. The compilation of NABL accredited laboratories in New Delhi Region has been done by Human Resource Development Committee (G-2) of Indian Roads Congress (Personnel given below). K B Rajoria C Kandaswamy V K Sharma Members Shishir Bansal O P Goel D P Gupta S S Jain K Siva Reddy Jai Bhagwan G S Khinda L R Gupta G P S Chauhan A K Jha P R Chandak Sudip Chaudhary R C Kehar P K Sikdar A S Rathore P N Jain V L Patnakar Convenor Co-Covenor Member-Secretary

Most of the facilities required in Highway projects are met in these laboratories. However depending of specific requirements, owner of the projects may approve more number of laboratories for use in the work. Such additional laboratories may be in the Government sector, Semi-Government or Private sector. In case of laboratories in the private sector, the past record and reputation of the laboratory must invariably be given due consideration. The infrastructure in these laboratories can be inspected before they are short-listed. However every laboratory may not have the facility for carrying out all the required tests. This compilation gives an overview of the available testing facilities in various reputed laboratories given below. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
