September 1st, 2011, National Recovery Month Event, Versailles, IN: Ripley County LCC is hosting this event to kick-off National Recovery Month. This event will be occurring at the Versailles Baptist Church and will be from 7-8:30PM. The featured speaker will be Angel Schiering who will share her personal story of addiction and recovery. September 26th-30th, 2011, Prevention of Drug Abuse Training offered by the Indiana Association of Prevention Professionals, Middlebury, IN: This training meets one of the requirements for those seeking certification as a Certified Prevention Professional or one of the other credentials offered by IAPP. Ethics in Prevention and Cultural Competency are included in the course. Classes will be taught by staff from Central CAPT. September 28th, 2011, Governors Commission for a Drug Free Indiana Monthly Commission Meeting, Indianapolis, IN: This monthly meeting is held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Government Center South. (Please check the ICJI website for possible change of schedule or meeting room location) September 30th, 2011, Lifestyle Risk Reduction: Talking About Alcohol and Other Drugs - Part 2, Versailles, IN: ASAP Center and Ripley County LCC is hosting this day long training that will examine the phases of alcohol and drug use, and how to determine ones own trigger level. This training is being held for FREE, however you must have completed Part 1 in order

to attend Part 2. Additionally there will be a $20 fee charged if you register and no show. Your Community Consultant has registration forms if you are interested in attending.

October 14th, 2011, Lifestyle Risk Reduction: Talking About Alcohol and Other Drugs - Part 1, Lawrenceburg, IN: ASAP Center and Dearborn County CASA is hosting this day long training to educate community members about brief interventions when working with you. This training is being held for FREE, however there will be a $20 fee charged if you register and no show. Your Community Consultant has registration forms if you are interested in attending. Shatter the Myths during National Drug Facts Week The National Institute on Drug Abuse invites communities and teens to organize and participate in educational events and activities around the issues of drugs during National Drug Facts Week, October 31st through November 6th. Visit NIDAs web-site where they provide activity suggestions, materials and a tool kit to assist in fully participating in this National Awareness Campaign. Alcohol Prevention Course for Parents This FREE 15 minute online course will allow you to learn to make safer/healthier decisions for yourself and your teen. The course covers social host liability, guidance and advice for dealing with your teen and dispels misconceptions about underage drinking.
