ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Research Project(s) undertaken : “Growing hairy roots in Nicotiana tabacum and Cucumus
sativus as an indicator of expression of recombinant FGF8b
in those plants”
in the Plant Biotechnology Laboratory of the
Department of Biotechnology in IIT, Kharagpur from
September, 2003 to May, 2004 under Dr.S.Dey which was
adjudged the “Best JBNSTS (Jagadis Bose National
Science Talent Search) Project”.
I would like to carry out research in the field of Genetic Medicine. Since childhood, I have been
fascinated by the causes of various human diseases especially those related to the brain and that is why I
have made an attempt to involve myself in research projects involving different aspects of Neuroscience
because I believe that to be able to understand neurodegenerative diseases, it is extremely important to
understand the working of the brain. I am deeply interested in exploring the genetic bases of
neurodegeneratory diseases with the objective of finding possible cures.I find the study of chromosomes,
genes, gene expression, gene mutation and neuroscience very interesting and intriguing. As such, I would
like to develop the technical skills and obtain the laboratory and research experience necessary for a
successful research career in laboratories renowned for research in neuroscience adopting genetic
techniques. I wish to do my research training abroad so that I may imbibe the work ethics, skills and culture
of those people who are doing some of the best research in the world today.
