cted by their friends is that young people spend much more time with their peers than with their family. Particularly, while young adults might have only a few hours with their parents after the mothers and fathers come home after work, a large proportion of teenagers hours in a day are spent outside the house as they go to school, hang out with friends, or do a part-time job. This can translate into the fact that teenagers might have more chance to communicate with their peers than with their parents; therefore, their own perspectives and lifestyles tend to be most influenced by those of their friends. Take my family for example; every member of the family has a hectic schedule: I myself go to school and attend extra classes during the day and sometimes in the evening; my parents do not arrive home until after 6 pm and may have to work over the weekend. Such schedule leaves us little time for conversations at home; therefore, instead of sharing with my parents about my issues and asking them for advice, I usually turn to my friends. Clearly, that gradually gives my buddies opinions more weight than those of my parents; indeed, I now tend to ask my friends about what they think about almost every aspect of my life: from shopping for clothes to my studies and work.
