For so many years, since the PCC times of the College of Accountancy it was only in 2003 a fhormal organization

to represent BS Accountancy students was established. Almost 6 years ago, October 25, 2003, the university-wide student organization Polytechnic University of the Philippines Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants started its milestone in promoting its primary goal- unity among Accounting students throughout the PUP System. The Eight Strands in its Official Seal represent the eight pioneer JPIA Local Chapters, the originators of the PUPFJPIA. PUP-JPIA: Bataan, Lopez, Maragondon, Ragay, Sta. Mesa, Sta. Rosa, Sto. Tomas and Taguig are the founding local chapters of this organization. The First Federation Year marked the birth of the organization. The founding President Michael B. Vinluan of PUP Maragondon organized and led its fellow officers, throughout the year, VP Academics- Sileandro Cruz from the PUP Santo Tomas Batangas Ext.; VP NonAcademics Catherine Sedeno from PUP Bataan; VP Membership- Mirriam Umali from PUP STBE; VP Finance- Casper Calimlim; VP Communications Rachelle Rivera from PUP STBE; VP Audit- Norimel Noliora from PUP Manila and Sec. Gen. Sherlyn Santiago from PUP Manila. The year culminated into a good beginning for the organization. Events and other happenings as planned were accomplished. The First General Assembly was held in PUP Maragondon way back Feb. 18, 2004. The First Ms. PUPFJPIA was held also on the same day. Prior to those days, the commitment to academe was realized in the First Academics Cup held by the Fed on January 14, 2004.The creation of the governing Constitution and Bylaws was also undertaken to define the organization, its government and members. Former-Dean Nenita S. Robles held the advisorship during that federation. By the end of the first Fed Year, the starting tradition (which has been a standing rule every Fed Year-End) was held to select or apppoint the new set of officers. The Second Fed Year continued the legacy of the pioneer officers which then later became one of the new set of officers. Former Sec. Gen. Sherlyn Santiago has been agreed to be the next president for Fed Year 2004-2005. Continued promotion on academics and nonacademics were maintained. It was on this Fed Year when Mr. PUPFJPIA was introduced to combine with Ms. PUPFJPIA, as one pageant. The First PUPFJPIA Sports Fest was also held to induce athletic efforts and development. The advisorship after the 1st Fed Year was handled by Prof. Sylvia Sarmiento and continuously she served to be the ever persistent adviser of the Fed. The Third Fed Year led by Mr. Jaime Ryan Neeley from PUP STBE configured the organization to be an accredited student organization in PUP. Successful accreditation lessened the burden of the next Fed by doing only reaccreditation, having only minimal requirements.A planned First Branch Hopping that aimed to reach out branch and campuses and address their needs such books and othe review materials was also realized in this Fed Year. Fed Year 2007-2008 headed by President Joenmelle Ilagan from PUP STBE culminated also into a good Fed Year that still advocated both academic and leadership excellence. Continued traditions and planned activities by the former administration were again undertaken. As years passed by; outstanding Fed Presidents such Fed Year 2008-2009 Pres. Mary Louie Anne Balansa from PUP Taguig and Fed Year 2009-2010 Pres. Sheena Jean Cabana from PUP Lopez, took position in innovating more out of the traditional activities of the organization. The past already passed by but its impact to an organization, as in accounting parlance, is MATERIAL. What has been done in the past reflects what we have now. The more we keep on promoting UNITY parallel with our ACADEMIC and LEADERSHIP EXCELLENCE advocacy, a good future for our PUPFJPIA is foreseeable.
