4. SETUP THE TOOLS

Before getting into the new software setup it is easiest to organize your files and folders. While Mag+ doesnt really care where you keep your work files, exported verticals are organized in a folder shared by InDesign and MagProd. For an introduction on how to set up your files we have included an example setup in the installation files. BrandName (e.g., Bonnier) MagazineTitle (e.g., Popular Photography) Store here the magplus.mags file and any assets youve created for your app, such as the icon, load screens and iTunes certificates. Issue (e.g., July 2011) Select this as your Issue folder in the InDesign plug-in and MagProd. The plugin will export verticals here, and MagProd will display those exported verticals.

4.1. Setting up the InDesign Plug-in.

Exporting your finished designs from InDesign creates folders that contain XML and asset files (images, movies, etc.) that are read into MagProd. Using the plug-in, you will point to the issue-folder that you want to hold your final exports. This is the same folder that you will point at in the Production Tool. 1. Open InDesign 2. Show the Mag+ plug-in window (Menu: Window > Mag+) 3. In the Vertical tab, click on the Folder button next to Issue 4. Locate the Issue folder youve created above (e.g. July 2011) and click Select
