Book Review A Different Priest Albert Vanhoye spent much of his scholarly life to the study of the epistle

to the Hebrews. This study on the epistle can be seen as the fruit of his research on this book. The epistle to the Hebrews does not usually receive the attention it deserves, especially from a pastoral point of view, which is regrettable since it is a magnificent example of Christian preaching. The reason why is probably because of its literary genre: an oratory, which is well known in classical literature but not so well known today and therefore somewhat distant from us. However, Vanhoye's book helps us to understand this epistle very well. He starts with outlining the structure of the epistle, which is an important element for understanding it. The author of the epistle used various literary techniques to convince his readers of his message that Jesus is the new High priest of the New Covenant and, that accepting this implies certain consequences in Christian life. This important book by Vanhoye explains this clearly and thoroughly. An excellent textbook for college and community. - Prof. Erik Eynikel Radboud Universiteit The Netherlands
