What are Angels?

Definition: Angels are created spiritual beings with moral judgement and high intelligence bt without physical bodies. Did not always exist. Were created: 6 You alone are the LORD; You have made heaven, The heaven of heavens, with all their host, The earth and everything on it, And You preserve them all. The host of heaven worships You. (Neh 9)

Created Spiritual Beings

Created For and By Christ 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. (Col 1)

Spirits

And of the angels He says: Who makes His angels spirits And His ministers a flame of fire.

... Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation? (Heb 1) Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have. (Luke 24)

Kinds of Angels - The Cherbim

therefore the LORD God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. 24 So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life. (Gen 3)

And He rode upon a cherub, and flew; He flew upon the wings of the wind. (Ps 18)

I looked up and saw something that appeared to be a throne made out of sapphire. It was above the huge space that was spread out over the heads of the cherubim. (Ezel 10)

The "cherubim"

"Make two cherubim out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover. ... 22 "The chest is the ark where the tablets of the covenant are kept. I will meet with you above the cover between the two cherubim that are over the ark. There I will give you all of my commands for the people of Israel. (Ex 25)

The "seraphim"
Above him were seraphs. Each of them had six wings. With two wings they covered their faces. With two wings they covered their feet. And with two wings they were flying. 3 They were calling out to one another. They were saying, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord who rules over all. The whole earth is full of his glory." 4 The sound of their voices caused the stone doorframe to shake. The temple was filled with smoke. 5 "How terrible it is for me!" I cried out. "I'm about to be destroyed! My mouth speaks sinful words. And I live among people who speak sinful words. Now I have seen the King with my own eyes. He is the Lord who rules over all." 6 A seraph flew over to me. He was holding a hot coal. He had used tongs to take it from the altar. (Isa 6)

The living Creatures

I saw in the fire something that looked like four living creatures. They appeared to have the shape of a man. 6 But each of them had four faces and four wings. 7 Their legs were straight. Their feet looked like the feet of a calf. They were as bright as polished bronze. Ezek 1:5-14 In the inner circle, around the throne, were four living creatures. They were covered with eyes, in front and in back. 7 The first creature looked like a lion. The second looked like an ox. The third had a man's face. The fourth looked like a flying eagle. 8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings. Each creature was covered all over with eyes, even under the wings. Day and night, they never stop saying, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God who rules over all. He was, and he is, and he will come." (Rev 4)

But not even Michael did that. He was the leader of the angels. He argued with the devil about the body of Moses. But he didn't dare to speak evil things against the devil. Instead, he said, "May the Lord stop you!"(Jude)

But the prince of Persia opposed me for 21 days. Then Michael came to help me. He is one of the leaders of the angels. He helped me win the battle over the king of Persia. (Dan 10)

Guardian Angels

The Lord will command his angels to take good care of you. 12 They will lift you up in their hands. Then you won't trip over a stone. (Ps 91)

"See that you don't look down on one of these little ones. Here is what I tell you. Their angels in heaven can go at any time to see my Father who is in heaven. (Matt 18) . 14 She recognized Peter's voice. She was so excited that she ran back without opening the door. "Peter is at the door!" she exclaimed. 15 "You're out of your mind," they said to her. But she kept telling them it was true. So they said, "It must be his angel." (Acts 12)
