Elder Kenny Jensen, former Kamloops Indian Residential School Student/Survivor in his humble but proud state stands with his family in front of the KIRS Monument. Kenny made a commitment to heal and to help others heal from the effects of the KIRS. As part of his healing process he committed to obtain and raise funds to build an everlasting monument that will help others heal. The monument is situated directly in front of the main door entrance of the former KIRS as a symbol of looking at the truth of the past and to heal from the wounds of KIRS.
Healing is facing your sorrows with an open mind, open heart, and a free spirit! Jo-Anne Gottfriedson, BGS/CED
