FEU East Asia College Wireless Network The Computer Services Office introduces HotSpot-FEUEAC, FEU East Asia

ia Colleges Wireless Network Infrastructure or hotspot for users of portable computers (e.g. laptop) and handheld devices (e.g. PDA) capable of receiving wireless signals (802.11b/g compatible). This hotspot will allow users to access the Internet from their portable computers and handheld devices when situated within the range of the access point. The range covered by this wireless infrastructure is the entire area of the 4th, 5th and 6th Floor of the Technology Building, from 8:00 am up to 8:00 pm. Users should present their portable computers and handheld devices to CSO Technical personnel for the configuration to connect to the wireless network. Certain configuration should be included before successfully connecting to the wireless network. EAC is a secure wireless network infrastructure protected by WEP (Wireless Equivalent Privacy). FEU East Asia College Hotspot Connection Procedure 1. 2. Users must fill out a Request for Wireless Network Access Form at the Computer Services Office. When filling out the said form, the following information about the portable device shall be obtained: a. Computer/Device Name b. Wireless Interface MAC Address (12 digit hexadecimal value e.g. 00:40:ef:45:92:64 or 0040ef459264) * For laptops with integrated wireless, this is usually found on a bottom label of the laptop. * For external cards, this is a 12 character hexadecimal address found on the back of the card. * If your MAC address is not on the back of your card, or you have a built in wireless card, let our technical support assist you in obtaining the MAC address The technical support personnel will check for the wireless device compatibility of the portable computer or handheld device. This is important for the handheld device to connect to the wireless network. Since the wireless network is not available to general public use, your wireless adapter will need to be manually configured to connect to the EAC access point. The wireless network utilizes a separate network with FEU East Asia Colleges wired network infrastructure. To connect to the Internet, set the proxy settings to 10.11.5.1:3128 (ip_address:port_number), or have the CSO Technical support set the connection for you.
