PRECAUTIONS FOR INSTALLATION/USING OF BSNL 3G 3.6/7.2 Mbps USB DATA CARD SUPPLIED BY M/s. TERACOM

3.6/7.2 Mbps USB DATA CARD SUPPLIED BY M/s. TERACOM 1. If the PC/Laptop is already installed

1. If the PC/Laptop is already installed with any Teracom 3G 3.6/7.2 Mbps USB Data card software, unistall it first , to avoid mismatch.

2. After unisatllation, connect the 3G 3.6/7.2 Mbps USB Data card in the PC/Laptop’s USB port.

3. The BSNL 3G 3.6/7.2 Mbps DATA CARD is normally a plug & play device and gets installed automatically in any Windows Operating System.

4. If the auto‐run program does not respond, check whether “Plug and Play” is in “Automatic” status in the “Startup Type” of “Services” in the “Computer Management”. The way to check the status is shown below:

Right click “My Computer”, select “Manage”

If still the auto‐run program does not respond, select and run the “Setup” file in the drive path as follows:

5. The BSNL official/User who handles/uses the data card is advised to wait for the full automatic installation procedure of the data card to complete . For example, the final screen for a correct installation looks like this:

If the installation procedure is not complete and if the message “A problem occurred during hardware installation. Your new hardware may not work properly”, it is advised to uninstall the software and reinstall until the software of the data card is installed properly as above.

6. For the user who uses LAN based Internet connection also as alternate connection:

When the installation is complete, but there is no connection to Internet when using Internet Explorer or any other browser, please check whether the proxy settings of LAN connection is disbled as follows:

Enabling Audio Driver of PC:

To enable the Audio Driver of the PC when data card is installed, click the ‘Audio Device’ button in the Settings window of GUI once.

Working of Data card in PC/Laptop with Anti­virus:

When a PC/Laptop is having Anti‐virus, ensure that it does not block the Internet traffic. For eg., if the “Network Threat Protection” is enabled in Symantec Endpoint Protection Anti‐virus, then it will block the Internet Traffic. Either disable the feature or deselect during customized installation, as done for any means of Internet connectivity.

9. New Software Patch:

A new software patch is provided to overcome the problem of using both Qualcomm and Ericsson chipset based Data cards in the same PC/Laptop afresh.

As per the information/solution given by M/s. Teracom as of now:

The software patch is of 32.5 MB size and needs to be loaded to the old data card using QPST Tool. The solution for loading will be given by M/s. Teracom.

The software installed from old data cards has to be removed from the PC/Laptop. The new software from the data card has to be installed in the PC/Laptop afresh to make both Qualcomm and Ericsson Chipsets based Data cards to work in the same PC/Laptop.

The new software installs the drivers for Qualcomm and Ericsson Chipsets separately, whenever used in the PC/Laptop for the first time. The respective driver is selected when the respective Data card is used again, thus works without clashing.
