Publication Notice
A new fresh rendition of the New Testament is to be published as an online serial
under the title of Read IRENT, as a work-in-progress, in Adobe PDF file format,
accessible freely through the web. It strives for clarity in living everyday English,
staying away from the style of the traditional Biblical English in use in most of
conventional translations and in church talk. It is a common peoples English but
no less dignified, with its content not adulterated with ones own personal opinion
and message as seen in several popular modern publications, which have often
gone beyond the limit of paraphrase and actually into a rewriting.
The title IRENT, chosen for the translation text work itself, is an acronym for
Invitation to Reading in English New Testament.
This issue is the basic Readers Edition of IRENT Gospel of Mark (as most
commonly called) in English with the footnotes. All the Endnotes are found in the
Study Ready Edition - Endnotes to be used along with the Study Ready Edition
Text.
Updating is reflected in the release number in the file name itself. Check always
for the latest one to download and read. Check also for additional files, such as
Introduction and Supplements.

exclaiming

1:35-38 {//Lk +4:42-43} This is what Ive come for
1:35
And very early in the morning, yet still dark,
Yeshua rose up and went off to a desolate place
there he was praying;
where he devoted himself to prayer;
1:36
And Shimon and his companions went out
to search for him.
1:37
and when they found him,
they say They all are looking for you!
1:38
And he says to them,
Let us go {elsewhere} into the village-towns around here,
so that I may proclaim there also;
it is, yo see, what Ive come for [from the Father].
1:39 {//Lk +4:44} (cf. Mt 4:23) First tour in Galilee on His mission
1:39
And he was proclaiming [the good news] and expelling demons
in the synagogues there in the whole Galilee.
1:40-45 {//Mt 8:2-4; //Lk 5:12-16} A leper made clean

And there popped out a leper who came to him,

make me clean.
1:41
And Yeshua, having been disturbed deep inside,
reached out his hand;
grasping the leprous [hand], says to him,
I do! Be you made clean!
1:42
{When he had said this}
the mans leprosy at once left from him, leaving him clean.
1:43
And having been moved deeply for him,
Yeshua at once is sending him off,
1:44
saying to him,
Make sure you dont tell [on your way]
anyone anything about this;
instead, go off [first] straight to

and then bring as your

[Lev 14:4-32]
as a proof to them that you are made clean
1:45
The man then went out [from the kohens]
and began to talk it out openly
and to spread the story around
so much about it [of how Yeshua healed him];
consequently, Yeshua could no longer come into any town openly,

and people were still coming to him from everywhere.
(Mark 2)
Healing a paralytic
2:1-12 {//Mt 9:1-8; //Lk +5:17-26} Healing of a paralytic
2:1
After some days when Yeshua returned to Capernaum,
the news got spread that he was at home
a
.
2:2
And there {at once} many got gathered [to hear him speak],
so much so that there was no longer enough room to hold them,
no, not even to get near the doorway.
While he was speaking the word [of God] to them,
2:3
on the scene
they make appearance bringing to him
a paralytic man being carried by four men.
2:4
And being unable to get close to him
because of the crowd,
[this is what they proceeded to do:]
they uncovered the roof above where he was.
And having broken through it,
look, they lowered the straw pallet
with the paralytic man lying on it.
2:5
And when Yeshua saw the trust
which was with them,
he says to the paralytic man,
Dear-child,
your sins [of breaking Gods law] are forgiven!
2:6
Now certain soferim were sitting there,
and thinking and wondering,
2:7
<How can this guy speak like that [ a mere mortal]?
[//Mt ]
hes blaspheming!
[14:64]
Who can forgive sins [against Gods law] except Elohim alone?!
[//Lk 5:21; //Mt ]
>
2:8
And at once Yeshua knowing in his spirit
what they were wondering in themselves,
said to them,
Why do yo wonder
thinking in this way in yor mind?
2:9
Which one is easier?
when I tell the paralytic, <Your sins are forgiven>;
or, I tell <You gotta get on your feet
and pick up your straw pallet away;
and be you on walking off>?
2:10
Now in order that yo may know this (and be proven to yo)
a
2:1 at home [Poss. at Peters house in Capernaum]
that the Son of Man has full authority
on earth to forgive sins
((At this point he says to the paralytic)),
2:11
To you I say:
Get up! ...
You can now pick up your straw pallet away
and go on to your home!
2:12
And the man did get up
and at once picked up the straw pallet,
and went off in the full viewof all;
so that they were all astonished and glorified Elohim, saying
We have never seen it like this!

Mk 2:13-17 {//Mt +9:9-13; //Lk +5:27-32} Calli ng of Levi (=Mattityahu)
2:13
And Yeshua went out again [walking] along the shore of the Lake,
and all the crowd was coming to him and he taught them.
2:14

About fasting
Mk 2:18-22 {//Mt +9:14-17; //Lk +5:33-39} Question about fasting
2:18
Now the disciples of Yohanan the baptizer
and those of the Pharisees were keeping fasting;
and people come and say to Yeshua,
How is it that the disciples of Yohanan the baptizer and of Pharisees
do keep their practice of fasting,
but your disciples dont keep it at all?

And Yeshua said to them,
How can [yo expect] the bridegrooms attendants keep their fasting

No, they cant

2:20
But the days will come
when the bridegroom will be taken away from them,
and then theyll go on to keep such fasting in that day.

Healing a man of a withered hand
Mk 3:1-6 {//Mt +12:9-14; //Lk +6:6-11} Healing a man of a withered hand on shabbat
3:1
And Yeshua entered into the synagogue on another occasion,
and a man was there who had a withered hand.
3:2
(And the Pharisees kept watching Yeshua closely
to see if he would heal him on the shabbats;
so that they could somehow accuse him.)
3:3
And he says to the man with the withered hand,
You get up and step forward to the middle!
3:4
Then he said to them around, asking
Isnt it something allowed on the shabbats
doing good deeds rather than doing bad deeds;
Yeah, having a life

saved rather than having it killed!
[//Lk 6:9][Cf. Mt 12:10b, 12b]
But they were shut up.

And Yeshua, looking around at them with indignation,
being thoroughly grieved at the callousness of their heart,
then says to the man, Stretch out your hand!

4:1
And again Yeshua began to teach by the lakeside.
And the crowd gathered about him was so large
that he got into a small-ship and sat in it out in the sea,
while the whole crowd was on the shore.
4:2
And he was teaching them many things in parables
a
;
in the course of his teaching he was saying to them:
4:3
Listen! The sower went out to sow
4:4
and as he was sowing this was what happened:
A seed fell by the roadside
and the birds came and peck it up.
4:5
And another fell on the rocky-patches, where it did not have much soil,
and at once it sprang up, because the soil was not deep:
4:6
and when the sun came up, it was scorched,
and because it did not have enough roots, it withered away.
4:7
And another fell among the thorny thistles
and the thorny plants grew up and choked it
and it did not produce a harvest.
4:8
And other seed fell on the favorable soil to produce fruit;
having sprouting up and growing,
it brought in some thirtyfolds and some sixtyfolds
and some a hundredfoldsas much.

5:31
And his disciples said to him,
You see the crowd pressing in on you
and you say <Who touched me?>
5:32
Yeshua, however, kept looking around to see
who had done it.
5:33
But the woman, frightened and trembling,
conscious of what had happened to her,
came forward and fell down before him
and told him everything as really happened.
5:34
And he said to her,
Daughter, your trust has made you well.
Go in peace.
Be sound in health free from your affliction!
5:35
While he was still speaking, there came some
from the household of the very synagogue-president [Jairus]
and they told Jairus,
Your daughter has died!
Why bother the Teacher anymore?
5:36
But Yeshua, overhearing the words spoken,
said to the synagogue-president,
Have no fear; only keep on believing.
5:37
And he let no one to follow along with him,
except Kefa, Yaakob, and Yohan, Yaakobs brother.
5:38
And he came to the house of the synagogue-president
and he saw a commotion,
[those hired mourners] much weeping and loud-wailing.
5:39
And entering in, he said to them,
Why are yo in a commotion and are weeping?
The child is not dead and gone, but shes sleeping.

And they chuckled-scornfully at him.
However, he put them all out,
and, taking the father of the child and her mother
and those with him,
he went in where the child was.
5:41
And taking the child by the hand, he said to her,
Talitha kum!

5:42
And at once the little-girl rose up and start walking about;

that no one should get to know about this
and told them to give her something to eat.

<Mark 12> Final Teachings
Parable - vineyard leased
Mk 12:1-12 {//Mt 21:33-46; //Lk +20:9-19}
a
Parable of a vi neyard leased
12:1
And he began to speak to them in parables.
A vineyard
[Isa 5:1-7]
! a man planted it
and he put a fence around it [against animals]
and dug a vat for winepress and built a watch-tower
and leased it out to tenant farmers and traveled abroad.
12:2
And in the harvest season, he sent a servant to the farmers,
to collect from the tenant farmers the fruit of the vineyard.
12:3
But they grabbed the servant
a
12:1-12 <parable> [Parable of the Two Sons (Mt 21:28-32) comes before this.]
and beat him up and sent him away empty-handed.
12:4
And again the vineyard owner sent another servant to them.
But, that servant, {throwing stones at}
they banged him on the head
and {sent him away} having humilitating him.
12:5
And he sent another, but that one they killed;
and many others; some were beaten and some were killed.
12:6
Still he had one left to send
his own son, dearly loved one:
Finally he sent this one to them, saying
<They will surely respect my own son.>
12:7
But those farmers said among themselves,
<This fellow is the future owner Come! Lets kill him
and then the property he gets will be ours.>
12:8
So they took him and killed and
threw him outside the vineyard.
12:9
What then will the vineyard owner do?
He will [surely] come, and destroy the tenant farmers
and will give the vineyard to others.
12:10

but they were afraid of the crowd
so they let him go off and went away.

Question on Mashiahs being Davids son

And Yeshua himself was back then in Bethany

d
.
[There was this incident:]
as he was reclining at the meal,
there came a woman
with an alabaster jar of very expensive fragrant-oil
of genuine spikenard.
Breaking open [the seal on] the alabaster jar
she began pouring it over his head [to anoint].
14:4
But there were who, being upset,
started grumbling to one another,
Why is such fragrant-oil being wasted?
14:5
Dont you see?
This fragrant-oil could have been sold
for over three hundred denarim
e
and given out to the poor!
That way they kept on scolding her.
14:6
But Yeshua said,
Let her alone! [yo shut up!]
why are yo making her feel so much uncomfortable?
Something fine and wonderful
shes just done on

action (vv. 14-16) to follow the J udean authorities plotting (vv. 1-5). Its content is factually identical to Jn
12:1-9 except that it does not provide the identity of the woman as J ohn does (Martha, sister of Lazarus who
was raised to life by Yeshua in Jn Ch. 11 only known in the J ohannine writings), but instead it provide the
location of the scene. John does chronologically accurately put this on the very first day of the Passion Week.

what this woman has done will also be recounted
as remembering what she has really done to me.
